Happy holidays everyone! I know you are all busy, so I'll make this short and sweet. First of all, I'd like to congratulate Kevin Sughrue on his appointment as a library trustee. I am happy to have his experience and expertise added to the team, and look forward to working with him.
Winter is an interesting time in libraries. During the summer months, when kids are on vacation, reading clubs are in full swing, and there is all-in-all more daylight to go around, as much as 40% of our collections may be checked out. During the dead of winter, it can drop as low as 8%. Right now, our shelves are swelling since 89.89886% of our collection is
here. That makes December and January the perfect times to run inventories, reclassify collections, update call numbers, and get other generally unglamorous housekeeping tasks done that aren't very exciting to read (or write) about.
We do still have some exciting events lined up, though, and the staff has decked out the place with Christmas decorations. So come see our tree and enjoy some programs!
