Perfect records? REALLY?

So you think you do a pretty good job of record keeping for your trucking or logistics business? Or you know you don't do a great job of it.

We prepare the returns for a husband and wife team in South Dakota, and they swear they've captured all of their expenses. Most drivers and/or spouses are not that confident.

One of the fun and very rewarding parts of our work here at eTruckerTax is reconstructing records for drivers.

As you might imagine, the IRS wants you to maintain records for the deductions you are claiming on your tax returns, especially business deductions. Certainly a reasonable request.

And if you review virtually any IRS Publication or set of instructions, it will tell you exactly what is "required" in order to take any given deduction.
