New York State Assembly member Robin Schimminger chair of the Assembly Committee on Economic Development, Job Creation, Commerce, and Industry recently met with CBLS Executive Director, Dr. Norma Nowak and NYS Center of Excellence in Materials Informatics (CMI) Executive Director Dr. Mark Swihart.

 Schimminger is a champion for the Centers of Excellence program state-wide, and has been a long-standing and staunch supporter of Buffalo's two centers. Drs. Nowak and Swihart updated the Chairman regarding center accomplishments and positive economic impacts. The meeting was followed by a tour of Buffalo Manufacturing Works.

Representative Brian Higgins visited the CBLS last month. Drs. Nowak and Swihart briefed him on center initiatives, and UB's Associate Vice President for Economic Development Christina Orsi presented the university's economic development work as well as an update on the Buffalo Institute for Genomics & Data Analytics (BIG).
