Action Alert - County Commissioner Candidate Forum

Few elected posts have a greater affect on Carroll County residents' lives than that of a county commissioner.

That is why 11 Carroll County-based nonprofits have come together to host the Carroll County Commissioner Forum.

The forum, which will be moderated by Carroll Community College's Steve Geppi and McDaniel College's Dr. Herb Smith, will be held Wednesday, April 30, at 7 p.m. at Carroll Community College in K Building, Room 100.

The field of candidates is large. Twenty candidates have filed to run for the five commissioner posts. One seat is open and the four remaining seats are held by incumbents.

The Carroll County Commissioner Candidate Forum will provide an opportunity for residents to get a better understanding of the candidates' stance on issues affecting an important sector in our community.

Carroll County is home to 518 nonprofits. Those nonprofits play a vital role in our community by providing services to individuals in need and volunteer hours for students seeking to graduate from our public schools.

Carroll County nonprofits also contribute to the overall health of the county's economy.

According to Maryland Nonprofits, Carroll County nonprofits employed 5,344 people in our community. That is just under 10 percent of Carroll County's workforce.

Please join us for this very importat event. Please vote in the primary on June 24. Early voting starts June 12.
