Good morning to all technician members of the California Pharmacists Association,

My name is Pat Person and I am a Past President of CPhA and the current Chair of the CPhA Elections Committee. I am contacting you for a couple of reasons:
First, I would like to thank you for your dedication to the profession of pharmacy and congratulate  you on your excellent decision to join CPhA, an organization that is working very hard to advance this profession that you are a part of. Thank you for also being a part of the CPhA Academy of Pharmacy Technicians.  As the role of the pharmacist expands, so will the role of the technician and we need dedicated pharmacy technicians to help determine what direction that technician role will move.

Second, I'd like to invite all of you to participate in a conference call that will be arranged by Matt Overton, CPhA's Director for the Center for Member Services. The purpose of the call is to provide some information on the Academy of Pharmacy Technicians (APT) and to answer any questions that you might have regarding the APT.

Third, I would like to invite any of you with leadership aspirations to consider running for a position on the APT Board as one of its directors. You can get more information on this when you participate in the above conference call, but the APT Board is responsible for meeting and discussing issues pertinent to technicians and then reporting those issues back to the CPhA Board of Trustees for discussion and possible action. Currently, your Board has several vacancies so there are quite a few opportunities for you to get involved in driving technician issues.

Finally, I wanted to inform you of some upcoming events that CPhA has planned. Academies Weekend is scheduled for September 19-20th in the Anaheim area and for those of you who are CPhT certified, this might be an opportunity to get some CE units. CPhA 's Leadership Weekend is November 14-15th in Carlsbad. This is where CPhA provides various types of training and information for its members who are seeking some type of leadership role in the association.  Please see cpha.com for details on both of these important events.

I welcome you to CPhA and if you ever have any questions about CPhA or Pharmacy, this organization is loaded with many incredible professionals who will be more than happy to answer your questions. Pharmacy is at an exciting point in its history currently, and you have the opportunity, as CPhA members, to play an important role if determining the future of the profession. Hopefully you will take advantage of that opportunity.

Thanks again for being a part of the CPhA tradition of professionalism in California and American Pharmacy. We're delighted to have you!

Respectfully,

Pat Person, RPh
