Where did you study?
I obtained my Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Southern California, School of Pharmacy and my Masters of Science in Hospital Pharmacy from the College of Pharmacy at The Ohio State University. I completed a 2 year Residency in Clinical Hospital Pharmacy at The Ohio State University Hospitals and Clinics. How long have you been practicing? I have been fortunate to be able to practice pharmacy in a variety of settings for 46 years. I retired in 2011. However, I remain licensed as a Registered Pharmacist in California. How long have you been a member of CPhA? I have been a member of CPhA since my days at USC with some lapses when I was living out of state. How long have you been on the AHP Board? I have previously served two terms on the AHP Board. Why do you think being a CPhA member is important? The landscape of healthcare delivery and payment is changing at an incredibly fast pace. This fact presents us, the pharmacy profession, with many opportunities and challenges. Many of these are new and have never been seen before. In order to respond effectively to these events, we must have a strong voice. There can be no stronger voice than a strong state professional organization that is ready, willing and able to address these critical issues. There is, as has been said before, strength in numbers. That's why I feel obligated to belong to and support CPhA just as it has supported me throughout my professional career. What do you hope to achieve during your term on the AHP Board? One of my main objectives during my term on the AHP Board, will be to assist in fostering an understanding of why, during this extremely fluid period of changes in healthcare delivery, it is critical for all practice segments of the profession to communicate with one another. We have the mechanism to help accomplish this goal in the existing Academy structure within CPhA. More inter Academy exchanges are needed. Sharing the impressive knowledge and expertise contained in the Academies with CPhA to assist in formulating policy and responses to issues facing the profession can only make us stronger. It would be my hope that our members would recognize this and be willing to lend their support to the Academy. |
