TwoTwo AHP Member Highlight
Each month, CPhA features an AHP member to highlight their background, involvement with CPhA, and recognize any best practices or achievements they've made in health-system pharmacy.

This month our AHP Member highlight is on  David Ha, PharmD.

David Ha, PharmD, AHP Board of Director
I serve as Infectious Diseases Pharmacist at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center and Assistant Professor at the KGI School of Pharmacy.

Where did you study?
I studied at UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (graduated class of 2012), did a PGY1 in Acute Care Medicine and PGY2 in Infectious Diseases at UC San Diego Medical Center.

How long have you been practicing?
I have been practicing for 3 years.

How long have you been a member of CPhA?
have been a member of CPhA since my first year of pharmacy school in 2008.

How long have you been on the AHP Board?
have been on the AHP board for just one month.  I also serve on CPhA's Legislative, Elections and Policy committees.

Why do you think being a CPhA member is important?
CPhA has always felt like home to me. It was clear to me, even as a first year student first being introduced to the organization that CPhA's top three priorities were membership, membership, membership. CPhA has a uniquely open and collaborative culture that seeks to better itself through bettering its members. CPhA has and continues to provide endless opportunities for professional development, education and connection.

What do you hope to achieve during your term on the AHP Board?
I look forward to serving CPhA as an AHP board member and give back in some small way to an organization that has given me so much. On the AHP board, I hope to enhance the involvement and membership of health-system pharmacists in CPhA through outreach, education and advocacy.

CPhA Sponsored Legislation
SB 672 Heads to the Governor

CPhA's sponsored legislation, SB 672, authored by Senator Ed Hernandez, gives pharmacists in a clinical or hospital setting legal protections if they participate in interdisciplinary or pharmacist peer review bodies.  SB 672 passed unanimously on the Assembly floor yesterday and now makes its way to the Governor for his signature.  Please send your letter of support to the Governor and tell him that pharmacist peer review is essential to the practice of pharmacy in order to advance the quality of care and promote patient safety. Pharmacists are recognized as healthcare providers under state law and there is no reason why they shouldn't be given the same peer review protections as any other healthcare provider.
