Spring Rebuilding Day 2014 success!

This past Saturday, April 25, 1,000 volunteers joined Rebuilding Together Seattle for our 24th Annual Spring Rebuilding Day, restoring 25 homes and nonprofit facilities in one day at no cost to the individuals served.

Top sponsors Greenpoint Technologies, Wells Fargo, Perkins Coie, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Stratos Product Development, along with 22 other event sponsors (below) gave generously through financial and volunteer support to provide life changing home transformations for the individuals served. These groups were joined by countless other in-kind supporters who provided materials and labor to help make this day possible.

Also known as National Rebuilding Day, approximately 160 Rebuilding Together affiliates repaired roughly 3,000 homes last Saturday with the help of more than 50,000 volunteers. Rebuilding Together Seattle will celebrate its 25th year participating in this national event in 2015!

RTS sends a BIG thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible. You truly made a difference in the lives of 25 homeowners by giving them a fresh start with the homes that they love. Thank you!

GiveBIG on Tuesday, May 6th!

On Tuesday, May 6, your donation to Rebuilding Together Seattle will be matched by The Seattle Foundation so you can be a hero for your favorite nonprofit! Any donation, up to $5,000, will be matched from their "stretch pool" of matching funds, making your impact even BIGGER for our mission.

Register today for the Inaugural Breakfast!

Please join us on Thursday, May 15, at 7:30 am to help us kick off our 25th year of programs at the Inaugural Safe and Healthy Homes Breakfast. Guests will hear from featured speakers on the issue of safe, affordable housing and the impact of Rebuilding Together Seattle in our community. We will also hear from a homeowner helped this past Saturday as part of our annual Spring Rebuilding Day!

With Mother's Day right around the corner, it is the ideal time to pick up the perfect present for the special women in your life while supporting Rebuilding Together Seattle!

See the Sounders with RTS on July 13th!

On Sunday, July 13, you can see the Sounders take on their Pacific Northwest rivals, the Portland Timbers and a portion of your ticket price will go to Rebuilding Together Seattle!

Program impact update

This year, Rebuilding Together Seattle plans to help 112 families with the necessary repairs they need to stay safe and warm in their homes. Here is an update on our progress as we near the close of our fiscal year on June 30, 2014.

Homeowner Spotlight

Ernesto and his family live in the Hillman City neighborhood of Southeast Seattle. Ernesto has been in a wheelchair for some time due to post-polio effects, and has been without a ramp. To enter or exit his home, he had to ask relatives to come over to carry him and his wheelchair up and down the stairs. Their home had a number of other hazards that caused them to worry about the safety of their daughter with special needs.

On Saturday, April 26, volunteers from Stratos Product Development and Exxel Pacific General Contractors repaired Ernesto's home as part of our 24th Annual Spring Rebuilding Day. Volunteers completely rebuilt their kitchen, repaired extensive ceiling damage caused by roof leaks, replaced gutters and downspouts, removed graffiti from their front fence, and more. Most importantly the volunteers built a very beautiful ramp that now takes Ernesto from his front door to his driveway, making doctor's appointments much easier now. Way to go, Stratos and Exxel Pacific!
