Brazil vs. Pacific Alliance: Latin America's Match of the Decade

Luncheon/Webcast of May 1, 2014 at the Penn Club in New York

Meeting Schedule

11:30 am to noon -  Networking
noon to 1:00 pm -   Luncheon
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm - Presentation

Abstract

  • Will the Pacific Alliance overtake Brazil in the world economy?
  • Which risk profiles and tax policies are more attractive for USA investors?
  • Is manufacturing keeping up with economic growth?
  • What is the outlook for USA’s closest growth markets and key sources of energy strategic materials and agriculture?

With a combined population similar to that of Brazil, the fastest growing economies in the region—Mexico, Peru, Chile and Colombia—have formed the Pacific Alliance, a trade block that wants to unleash and capture the full potential of their investor-friendly and sound fiscal policies. They are the rising stars with sustainable growth policies and a growing middle class eager to reap the fruits of economic progress.

This integrated economic region will rival Brazil as it blooms into the fourth economy in the world by 2030 creating a vast transformational opportunity for savvy company strategists and investors. Latam’s population estimated at one billion by mid-century combined with a cornucopia of natural resources ranging from the world’s largest rain forest to the longest mountain range to the massive oil and gas reserves, will play a key role in global economic growth.

If you do business or invest globally, do not miss the unique insights of Robert Wood, the Deputy Director for Latin America of the Economist Intelligence Unit, a most influential country risk and intelligence firm, and John Salerno, the Head of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Latin American Tax Group to navigate the challenges and seize the opportunities of this strategic region. The moderator will be George Rodriguez, the Chairman of CM&E.

Panelists: Robert Wood, Senior member of the Latin American country analysis team.                                                  John Salerno, a PwC tax partner.                                                                                                   George Rodriguez, Director at Argeni LLC.
