On The Course

Golf CartPlease note the Golf Course will be closed until 12 Noon on Monday, July 7th for monthly maintenance. Play will resume after 12:00 pm.

While the summer season is the best time of the year to enjoy golfing in the warm weather, it does require special consideration when maintaining the golf course.

With an increase in heat and humidity levels, we must sometimes activate sprinklers during the day to cool down the course. This sometimes is an inconvenience to our patrons but it is necessary to maintain fairways, tees and greens during extreme dry conditions.

The water cycles during the day are short in nature and should not impact or disrupt your round. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

The Importance of Proper Grip Pressure

One of the common faults I have noticed with most amateur and recreational players is they have a tendency to grip the golf club too tight. Proper grip pressure is an important aspect of the golf swing that is often overlooked. Most players who grip the golf club too tight make it difficult for them to release the club head at impact resulting in a variety of bad shots. To eliminate holding the club too tight at address, try some of these tips:

  • When gripping the club you must hold it firm, not tight with your hands relaxed.

  • Build an image-one good example is gripping the club like you are holding a rotten banana. If you squeeze to tightly the inside of the banana will "squish" out.

  • Having the proper grip pressure will also allow your arms and shoulders to relax allowing for a rotation of the your hips, making it easier to swing the club. This will result in good ball striking and better shots.
Practice these tips and if you have trouble establishing the right grip pressure, schedule a lesson. It will be time well spent to improve your game.
