If you're on Facebook, or Instagram, you've probably already seen the news. Brian's new book is coming out at the end of October. For the first time ever, he told us that we can show you bits & pieces along the way. This. Is. A. Big. Deal.
But why's it a big deal? you ask. You already get the story of the day & other email from us. You'll hear about it that way, won't you?

The short answer is no. All the little tidbits that you're going to see from the new book are different. There's nothing for sale. There aren't any specials. It's just Brian showing you how a new book takes shape. It's a chance to play along...

We can promise you there'll be treats you never even imagined. New stories that he's writing on the fly. Delicate black & white drawings from restaurant napkins. (Because if it's one thing we know, the process of making a book doesn't stop just because he's not at his drawing table.) You get to see all the fun little bits & pieces that show up along the way as he makes a book, but here's the scoop: you're going to have to sign up for it.

Consider this your invitation. If you're interested in looking over his shoulder while he works, now's the time to do it. Click here to sign up to get updates & glimpses of new art & the pages as they're coming into being. We'll also let you know first, before anyone else in the whole world, when it's finally ready. (& when you sign up, there's a really good chance that you'll be one of the few people who'll know exactly how to get a signed, first edition copy. Woo hoo!)

Do we need to give you any other reasons why you should click here & go sign up right now?

with love,

The Crew at StoryPeople

P.S. Personally, we've always enjoyed following along when he's working on a new book. Paging through the piles of stories that he's collected (& even better, the ones he pulls from his notebooks that no one's ever seen). Watching as he arranges the drawings & watercolors. Getting a quick peek at the cover he's currently thinking of using...

Watching how the title changes is actually one of the most fun things in the whole process. Because the title usually shifts three or four times along the way. His third book didn't even have a title until the day it went to the printer. Someone here asked him what it was going to be called & he shook his head & said he didn't know yet, but it'd better be quick because this book was going somewhere else, very soon & then he just started to smile. That's it, he said. That's what I'll call it...

Which is exactly why his third book is called Going Somewhere Soon.

We have no idea what the new book will end up being, but we can tell you, it'll be fun to be along for the ride...
