MILLENNIAL TRAVEL SPENDING

As the age of the prime gamer is advancing, casinos must look to younger generations to fill these emptying seats. This shift in focus comes as no surprise to gaming professionals, who are aware of the many challenges that lie ahead. In response to the issue of age, recent research has uncovered what may be the light at the end of the tunnel: millennials and members of Generation X (Gen Xs) are spending more money on luxury travel.

GAINING THE EDGE WITH MILLENNIAL GAMERS

I am a millennial and I do not visit casinos to gamble. The vast majority of my friends are millennials and they do not gamble at casinos. While I have been to Vegas with many of my friends, we hardly gave the lines of slot machines on the casino floor a glance. We spent some time playing black jack but the primary purpose of our visit was to party at night clubs and watch shows.

Michael Zhu's passion for the hospitality industry sparked during his undergraduate education as a student ambassador for Peking University's Joint International study and exchange programs. Being an ambassador presented opportunities for him to meet and interact with a varied set of stakeholders and leaders within the ivy league schools and other prestigious universities worldwide.
The ambassadorship lent itself to the hospitality industry, furthering his interest in that industry, an interest which has continued to this day. Powered by China's achievements as well as by his career development goals in a global landscape, Michael attended the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University where he earned his MBA degree in Hospitality Management. With a China-based cultural background, and a strong philosophical understanding of the leisure industry gained from his undergraduate studies, Michael considered gaming to be a sector so exceptional that he has since focused on it with enthusiasm.

Another Successful Emerging Leaders Reception at G2E

As GGB Magazine continues to publish G2E's and the AGA's year-long series, "40 Under 40", The Innovation Group and Reed Exhibitions continue to host annual networking events at G2E since the launch of Emerging Leaders. This year was no exception as we co-hosted the inaugural "40 Under 40" Awards while offering tomorrow's industry leaders invaluable networking opportunities.
