Rector is away!

By the time you read this, I will be off on vacation until Labor Day.  The plan is to be at Holden Beach, NC, for two weeks--the first week with extended family (14 of us), and the second week will be a personal retreat time.  I'm always available by cell phone and email--but it may take a little longer for me to retrieve messages.  This will be a good time for Benjamin to really get his feet wet.  I'm sure you will enjoy him!  Blessings, Alice+

Keys, Anyone?

If you have a key to Grace Church and have no reason to be carrying it around, please return it to Debbie Motes at the church.  She is having difficulty getting more copies made, and it's expensive and inconvenient to install new locks just so we can provide keys to new teachers, new Altar Guild members, etc. as they join us.  Thanks!

Nice note!

To the members of Grace Episcopal Church,

I'd like to thank you for making me feel very welcomed in your church home. It's unfortunate that I was only able to attend two Sundays before having to move back to school.  Attending church at Grace has made me feel more confident in my decision to recently switch to Episcopalian.

Best Regards, Bridgette Waldrop

Thanks, Men of Grace!

The Men's Group has been working overtime with various grounds and property improvement projects.  One project involved killing and pulling weeds--primarily behind the church and around the children's play area. Last Saturday, they hauled and scattered mulch for several hours  in the play area.  And this Saturday, August 16, they will be working in the red house preparing the foundation for new flooring in a sizable area where the floor had deteriorated and sunk several inches.  This is all hard work!  To all our workers, "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

Military Affairs

Just in case you didn't see the article in the Kentucky New Era last week, we are being encouraged to participate in the letter-writing campaign to try to save Fort Campbell from a devastating reduction in numbers.  No matter what our individual feelings might be about the military, we all know that a huge reduction could have a powerfully negative effect on the economy of the surrounding area.  If you would like to add your support, stop by the Chamber of Commerce and sign a prepared letter.  For more information, go to www.christiancountychamber.com and click on the "Support Fort Campbell" link.

Living the Questions Update

Our Adult Forum group continues to be enthusiastic about the material we are exploring and about the opportunity to talk with each other about what we believe--and what we don't believe.  A Monday evening series using the same material will begin on September 15.  Mark your calendars!  More details soon.

Members Needed for Missions Group

With the departure of Tom and Sally Brewer, we are recruiting volunteers for membership in the Missions Group.  We have several ongoing outreach projects and there will be opportunities to use the talents of many in our new GraceWorks initiative.  We had a very productive meeting this week getting a sense of direction with GraceWorks, and a decision was made for that planning group to meet every two weeks on Tuesdays at 4:00 pm.  The next meeting will be August 26 in the Gaither Room.  The next meeting of the larger Missions Group will be Sunday, September 7, at 11:30 am.  Please come and join this group!
