Plenty of seats are still available for our "Suicide Prevention and Older Adults" presentation, scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, from 8:30 - 11:30 AM at the Jackson
/Madison County Health Department, located at 804 North Parkway in Jackson.
This session, which is free of charge, will be of special interest to employees of senior centers, assisted living facilities, and volunteers who work with older adults. Contrary to popular belief, depression is not a normal part of the aging process. This presentation will help caregivers and healthcare professionals respond to severe depression and/or suicidal behavior among older adults.
The session will feature an educational session on suicide risk within this population and a presentation of the evidence-based "Question, Persuade, and Refer" (QPR) suicide prevention curriculum. Three credit hours are available for participants.
The program will feature an educational session on suicide risk within this population, presented by Kris Moore, Community Education Director for Behavioral Healthcare Center at Martin. Her segment will be followed by presentation of the evidence-based "Question, Persuade, and Refer" (QPR) suicide prevention curriculum, facilitated by Granger Brown, Substance Abuse Outreach Coordinator for TSPN.
This event is sponsored and organized by Behavioral Health Initiatives, Lakeside Behavioral Health System, and the Rural West Region of the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network.
Registration for this event is available online at https://oasp042214.eventbrite.com. Pre-registration for this event is required and no walk-ins will be accepted.
