Kenneth H. Reid, 1923-2016

Kenneth H. Reid passed Thursday evening, January 7, 2016, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 92. Kenneth received his law degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia (J.D., 1948). He originally founded the firm, which is now known as Turner, Reid, Duncan, Loomer & Patton, P.C., with Meredith Turner in 1953. He retired in 2006, but continued to regularly visit the firm, even in recent weeks, to discuss current events, legal issues, and catch up with his partners and friends.

Kenneth was an officer in the Army during the last stages of World War II, stationed in Germany. He served as Special Assistant Attorney General in 1953 and from 1957-1960.  He was a member of the Missouri Supreme Court Committee on Jury Instructions from 1977-1986. He was a member of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association and served as President in 1963.  He was also a member of the American Bar Association and the Missouri Bar where he served as Chairman of the Civil Practice and Procedure Committee from 1974-1975. In 2009, he was honored by the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association with the Distinguished Attorney Award. He also served as Editor in Chief of the Law Practice Section of the Missouri Bar Courts Bulletin. Kenneth became a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1979 and was later a Fellow Emeritus. He concentrated his practice on insurance defense law, medical malpractice, and Workers’ Compensation.

Kenneth will be truly missed by his partners at Turner-Reid, many of whom practiced with him for more than three decades, his co-workers at the firm, his family, and the many colleagues who will fondly remember him.
