child care Fingers crossed that her child's name has finally come up, mothers of the 16,802 children in Toronto currently on a waiting list for subsidized child care make a weekly call, hoping against the odds that their child has been accepted for affordable child care.
 


For every child in one of the 62,336 licenced child care spaces in Toronto, there are four children on a waiting list.

With their children in child care, women can get back to work, upgrade their skills or advance their education. But the odds she'll hear that a space has opened up for her child are slim since the City can only provide 19% of the child care spaces needed for Toronto's children. Read more [...]
