BCOur legislative efforts continue in Baton Rouge!

This coming Wednesday we will be testifying in support of HB 701, the Louisiana Pre-Natal Non-Discrimination Act, in the House Health & Welfare Committee. This legislation aims to end violent gender discrimination in the form of sex-selective abortion.  Check this list of committee members to see if your representative sits on that committee. Please contact them and ask them to vote yes!

We look forward to seeing you in May both at the "Stand for the 2,844" Rally on May 18 and Bowties for Babies on May 19.  Please support these great events!

The Planned Parenthood abortion business in Kansas is considering filing a lawsuit seeking to overturn the new law pro-life Gov. Sam Brownback signed that bans dismemberment abortions that tear babies limb from limb. The state Attorney General is putting together a legal defense fund to protect the new pro-life law.

It should have been a routine abortion in the early second trimester. The woman was having her ninth abortion, as former Serbian abortionist Stojan Adasevic describes in the documentary "The First Hour." Adasevic, who is now a pro-life leader in Serbia, had performed over 48,000 abortions before doubts about the procedure made him stop. Other sources claim that number is closer to 60,000.

There's been landmark pro-life activity in the Tennessee State Legislature, as two bills were passed overwhelmingly in the House - having previously passed with large majorities in the Senate. Both bills are now on their way to Gov. Bill Haslam (R), expected to sign them into law. These bills will implement informed consent, a 48-hour waiting period (after a woman receives the information), and requirw that abortion facilities performing 50 abortions per year be licensed and and inspected by the State Department of Health.

A California committee has approved a bill that would force pregnancy centers providing women with abortion alternatives to refer women for abortions. Thousands

of pregnancy centers across the nation are the counterbalance to the abortion industry by providing women with tangible help and real alternatives to abortion. But pregnancy centers in California may soon find themselves forced to promote abortions under legislation pending in the California legislature.

Today's Battle of New Orleans: Fighting the Culture of Abortion
Planned Parenthood Must Be Called Out

By John Binder, The Hayride

Editorial Reprinted with Permission

The fight over Planned Parenthood's new Claiborne Avenue clinic in the city of New Orleans has been contentious, to say the least.

From the beginning, the Archdiocese of New Orleans has condemned Planned Parenthood's effort to bring another abortion clinic to the area, as the abortion giant's Magazine Street clinic does not offer abortion services. And from the beginning, Archbishop Gregory Aymond was vilified by the local media, portrayed as using intimidation tactics and threats to drive Planned Parenthood out of the city.

But Aymond's crusade against Planned Parenthood has been courageous. Just as Christians are being picked apart for not standing up for themselves and collapsing to liberal, cultural norms like abortion, Aymond did not allow himself to be intimidated by Planned Parenthood.

Weeks ago, New Orleans City Councilwoman Latoya Cantrell spoke at a Planned Parenthood meeting in a Presbyterian Church in the city. But do not think for a second that this abortion rally, disguised as a "healthcare rally for women," was picked up by the local press.

Naturally, Cantrell did not speak about the abortion services that come along with Planned Parenthood at the rally. Instead, it was as if Planned Parenthood is some kind of magical place where women are treated like queens and given the best kind of healthcare they can find.

But that is just not the case. Planned Parenthood is an abortion giant. But all Planned Parenthood wants to talk about is "healthcare" and mammograms and pap smears. Even in Planned Parenthood's radio ad, the abortion giant never makes any mention about offering abortion services at its new site.

So if abortion is not a heinous medical procedure that women are conned into getting because they are told they have no other choice, why won't Planned Parenthood advertise its abortion services?

Planned Parenthood does not advertise its abortion services, but at the same time it filed an appeal to a Department of Health and Hospitals' decision blocking it from performing abortions at the new center, arguing there is a lack of some 2,844 abortions a year in the New Orleans area.

While the abortion giant pretends to not be all about abortion, its leaders site in their argument to the state that the clinic is necessary in order to perform thousands of abortions that are lacking in the city.

79%Not only did the local media ignore the abortion rally Cantrell  attended, but it has also long ignored how Planned Parenthood targets black and Hispanic neighborhoods.

As Planned Parenthood disguises itself to care the most about minority women, the abortion business only cares about them because it is getting rich off their struggles.

In 2012, the group Protecting Black Life released a report which found that 79 percent of all Planned Parenthood abortion clinics were within walking distance of black and Hispanic neighborhoods.

Why is Cantrell not talking about how Planned Parenthood targets black and Hispanic women disproportionately over white women? Why isn't the local press asking these same questions?

Aymond and pro-life groups should take note as to how they have been portrayed in the press and how Planned Parenthood has been able to dominate the narrative of the debate.

Abortion is a culture war, without a doubt, and Planned Parenthood's effort to deceive minority women into believing that abortion is their only option must be called out. Aymond and pro-life groups are essential to challenging these abortion norms among the black and Hispanic communities and, unfortunately, they will have to continue to ask the questions that the local press simply will not ask.

That's the real, modern battle of New Orleans.

Even though they have made construction progress, OUR mission of exposing Planned Parenthood's abortion business is not finished.

Planned Parenthood officials have stated they believe 2,844 abortions need to be performed at this facility every year. We believe New Orleans needs peace, not more abortions.

We will continue standing against Planned Parenthood to protect the unborn babies and women they are targeting for abortion.

Will you continue to take a stand?

We invite you to join us next to Planned Parenthood's property at 4612 S. Claiborne Ave. in New Orleans at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 18 for our "Stand for the 2,844" Rally.

Ramona Trevino, who worked for three years as the

manager of a Planned Parenthood facility in Sherman, Texas, will be the special guest at the rally.

Also participating in the event are Archbishop Gregory Aymond, the Rev. Fred Luter Jr. of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, Pastor Dennis Watson of Celebration Church, Dr. Kathy Allen, director of Louisiana Black Advocates for Life, and others. We are thrilled to have these local leaders standing for life.

We hope you will join us at the rally as we stand for the lives of the 2,844. Because we stand for these lives, we must stand against Planned Parenthood.

'Duck Dynasty' Members Among Speakers at Convention
National Event Returns to New Orleans
For the first time since 1987, the National Right to Life Convention will be held in New Orleans from July 9-11!

This convention is a great chance to hear from dynamic speakers and participate in powerful workshops that will equip you to be a voice for the voiceless. Whether you are just getting involved in the pro-life movement, or you're a seasoned pro-life advocate, there will be something for everyone at the convention.

The speaker list is vast and growing (click here to view). It includes three members of the Robertson family from "Duck Dynasty," Alan, Lisa and "Miss Kay," who will be the featured speakers at the convention's prayer breakfast.  Lisa's post-abortion testimony is powerful, as has been documented in their recent book. You do not want to miss it!

The convention also includes a Youth Track, and Louisiana Right to Life will host a special "Festival of Life Reception" Thursday night July 9.

Volunteers are needed before and during the convention in a number of different areas.  Volunteers will be eligible for discounted convention registration. If you would like to get more information on volunteer opportunities, contact Carlton Guillot at [email protected].

Not only will this be a great event that you will want to attend, but it important for us to have strong representation from Louisiana. Let's show the nation why Louisiana is the most pro-life state!
