Radiology Holiday Party Announcement!
As the holidays are right around the corner, we would like to announce this year's holiday lunches being hosted by the department. Below are the dates and times for both the Memorial and University Campuses. Please join us for some holiday cheer!!

Memorial Campus: December 15th in the Radiology Conference Room at Noon

University Campus: December 17th in the Blais Pavilion (Lazare Research Building Function Space) at Noon
 
Dr. Wakhloo co-develops drug-device combination for treating life-threatening blood clots in stroke patients
Along with Donald Ingber, MD, PhD, founding director of the Wyss Institute, Dr. Ajay Wakhloo developed a breakthrough new drug-device combination to restore blood flow to obstructed vessels.

Dr. Vijayaraghavan speaks to the new mammography guidelines from American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society recently produced new guidelines stating that women should now delay their first mammogram until the age of 45. However, Gopal Vijayaraghavan, MD, MPH continues to support the American College of Radiology's guidelines to start these screenings at 40 years old.

RSNA 2015 
RSNA 2015 will be taking place in Chicago, Illinois from November 29 - December 4. Over 11,000 scientific and education abstracts were submitted for the Scientific Program Committee and Education Exhibits Committee to review. The following list was approved by the RSNA and will be presented by our colleagues.
Dr's. Hussain and Makris travel to Liberia for voluntary work
Sarwat Hussain, MD and Joseph Makris, MD traveled to Liberia this past October volunteering to teach residents and consultants. Read more about their trip to Liberia .
Beginning in January 2016, our new affiliation with Cape Cod Healthcare will allow UMass Medical School students to do clinical rotations at their Hyannis location. Read the full UMass article here.

Crystal Lehto has been with UMass for approximately 12 years and began as the Clinical Quality Project Manager for Radiology this past September.
