We have begun our CMAS testing this week and are excited to report that despite some minor glitches at the start, our kids and teachers persevered and showed true grit in getting the job done! We have been very proud of how diligent our Spartans have been throughout the week and look forward to a strong finish.
I also wanted to take the opportunity to remind you and your student to please be sure that you have completed your choice of studies for the 2015-2016 school year. The window for students to select classes ends on March 13th at 4 p.m.. You can either follow the links on this newsletter or go to

The Bucket Challenge is Here!

Time to rally for TJ! We're raising money to improve the vital areas where students learn and build community--the library and common areas--plus a new study lounge.
You've heard of the ALS ice bucket challenge? Well, this is the TJ Bucket Challenge.

Or don't. Seriously, we're not asking anyone to dump buckets of icy water overhead in Colorado at this time of year. That would be crazy. But we

asking you to get crazy creative with whatever you can easily,
safely
pour from a paint bucket, capture on video, and share via social media and email. Get your friends and family involved-spread the word!
In addition to a 5-gallon bucket, you will need something (inexpensive!) and pour-able:

Gold and brown balloons, or

Be thoughtful, use good judgment, and have fun while helping TJ to raise funds for a great cause and a great school!
Whether you skip the paint bucket and head directly to the donation bucket is up to you. Whatever action you take, please share the fundraising link by email and in your social media spaces. It certainly does take a village!

Saturday School and Summer School
|
Saturday school will be held on March 14th from 8am to noon in the TJ library. All students need to check the lists out in the hall to see if they are on the list.
Students can now sign up for summer school. It is first come, first served, so don't wait!

TJ Theatre members gear up for this year's play, Arsenic and Old Lace.
After five months of hard work, the students of TJ Theatre will see their long rehearsals and utmost endeavors pay off with the premiere of this year's play,
Arsenic and Old Lace. They began work at the beginning of November, and are approaching the last stretch of the season. The show will open on March 11 and run until the 14th, and the actors and technical crew members are anxiously preparing for what may be one of TJ's most unforgettable productions.

Citizenship Workshop for Families
|
The Emily Griffith Campus is hosting a citizenship workshop on March 21. The event is open to all DPS parents who are eligible for U.S. citizenship. Immigration attorneys will provide legal consultations and assist individuals in applying for citizenship.
The registration cost for the event is only $50 and, in addition to legal advice, includes assistance in applying for the application fee waiver which can save applicants $680.

I have met with many students and families to complete their FAFSAs. Remember, FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. You should not pay for this application. If you need to complete the FAFSA or have questions about any step in the financial aid process, I am happy to meet with you by appointment. Please email me to set a time at [email protected]. Otherwise, please review the links below to help ensure that you've completed next steps of the financial aid process.
