Are numeric scores and letter grades actually helping our students grow? This week's "Big Picture" feature discusses new methods of assessment to help all children achieve success.


Rather than sleep in at the end of their Fall break last week, some DCSD high school students chose to end their week by climbing a 50-foot rock wall at Castlewood Canyon as part of the newly renamed Stone Canyon Outdoor EDventures program.


For the second year in the row, the Douglas County School District accounting team has received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International.

Last Saturday, the Chapparal High School Fashion Club participated in a Charity Fashion Show event for Bella Boutique Denver, a nonprofit organization that provides new prom dresses and accessories to students who cannot otherwise afford them. Students helped by taking old, outdated dresses and recreating them into beautiful, modern garments! The completed dresses were then modeled on the runway and auctioned off for the charity.

Choice is for Kids Fair

DCSD is offering the "Choice Is For Kids" School Choice Fair to help parents learn about the variety of educational opportunities and programs that exist to meet the unique needs of students. Parents will have the opportunity to meet with school and program representatives throughout DCSD, all in one place and one night.
