November: We're Celebrating Adoption

 

November is National Adoption Month - our favorite month to celebrate. Helping provide permanency to our kids in foster care is one of the most rewarding things we do.

So we'll be sharing adoption success stories all month on hckids.org and on our social media channels.

We're also working on a special Adoption Day event for Nov. 20. That day, we will have the pleasure of seeing 17 children adopted into eight families. One couple is adopting six siblings.

Our coffee sleeves will be popping up on coffee cups throughout the area soon too. We made two sleeve designs this year to feature eight kids.  

And stay tuned for our 2016 calendars. We're finishing them up now and they'll be ready for distribution soon.

We are so happy to have two winners at annual PCSAO conference

 

 

Every year, the Public Children Services Association of Ohio honors social workers and others for their work with children's services. HCJFS brought home two awards this year:

• For having the most Outstanding Child Protection Support Staff - Travina Adams.
• And for one of our foster kids, Trent Stadtmiller, who won a Rising Up and  Moving On award for how much he has overcome.

Adams was commended for increasing and improving the agency's adoption recruitment events, at which potential families can meet some of our kids who are waiting for forever families.

  

Stadtmiller, who is studying at Wilmington College, is considering becoming a social worker so he can pay it forward and help kids in the system.

While backstage in London for the start of the UK Warped Tour, the band Black Veil Brides took pictures with our green foam hands. As part of a joint promotion with Kerrang magazine, they shared the photo on Instagram, where it was seen by more than 6,000 people.

On the agency's social media channels, an additional 700 people have seen the photo with the popular band. There is an HCJFS connection to the band - lead singer and founder Andy Biersack is the son of Employee Relations Manager Chris Biersack.
