Restroom Renovations

The First Floor Restrooms Renovation continues.   Watch for signs posted near the construction area for directions to the bathrooms.

Looking from (what used to be the men's restroom) across the length of all the new women's, family, and men's restroom spaces.

View towards what will be the entry passage into the new larger women's restroom.   The existing windows will be frosted to allow for ample natural light while maintaining privacy.

The 20,000 Foot View

 Pastor Cathy

What is a 20,000 foot view?   If you can remember your last flight in an airplane you know that things look much different from 4 miles up!  There are also beautiful patterns that come from ordinary fields of soybeans and corn.  The squarely cut fields form a mosaic.

As Doug mentioned last week we value communication and transparency.  Here are a few "big picture" views to help you better understand the current reality at Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church:

+Our People

Several vital ministries are supported by Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church because our people have stepped up to offer their time, talents, and money, including:  The Center for Respite Care, Stephen Ministry (placing compassionate, trained listeners with people in a time of need), Job Search Focus Group, Interfaith Hospitality Network (offering food and shelter for those in need), Madisonville Education and Assistance Center, Wesley Chapel Mission Center, Wesley Services, Rothenberg School Tutoring Program, The Hyde Park Center for Older Adults, Habitat for Humanity, and the Downtown Campus at Nast Trinity which coordinates the serving of breakfast and dinner each Sunday.   Global missions that we support include Germany, Haiti, Liberia, and Russia.

Several host families have stepped forward to open their homes for conversations with Pastors Doug and Cathy Johns.  They are listening to our congregation and seek your input on strengths of Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church as well as hopes and dreams for the future.  The information gleaned from these listening sessions will help them to get better acquainted with our church members as they shape a vision for where God is leading us in the future.  Contact Lindsay Garrison, [email protected]

Renovation Status Update

Hyde Park Campus

Equipment for the Welcome Center HVACReplacement was delivered early to Slade, the contractor, so the project will begin next Monday, July 28, one week ahead of schedule.  The project is expected to take two weeks.  The first week will involve basement work:  the existing air handling unit will be replaced with the new one.  The second week will involve work in the Welcome Center:  the air handling unit removed from the basement during week one will be moved into the Welcome Center, and the unit currently there will be removed and stored elsewhere for a future need.

  1.    Monday, July 28th to Friday, August 1st Basement air handling unit removal and installation
  2.     Monday, August 4th to Friday, August 8th Welcome Center air handling unit swap

Also, Slade requested permission to install a pad for the new condenser this week which the Property Team approved.  The pad will be placed next to the existing condenser behind the row of shrubs outside the Welcome Center.

SERVE

You can make a Summer Impact!

As the summer is unfolding, we still have plenty of spaces for people to join us in serving with Summer Impact.

On the following dates we will be working with and loving on kids in Over-the-Rhine and West Chester. The time commitment is from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the latest. These dates all fall in our Day Immersion weeks. In order to best provide for our ministry partners needs in running their summer programs, we are looking for volunteers to fill the following available serving spots:

Monday, July 28 - 12 people

Tuesday, July 29 - 19 people

Wednesday, July 30 - 12 people

Thursday, July 31 - 19 people

Friday, August 1 - 14 people
