PlayinNewsSign the Petition to Save Play Wales!

The government of Wales has decided to stop its funding of Play Wales, and a movement is growing to ask Wales to reconsider this decision. Wales has been a positive example of a country that supports play through a national policy. In addition, funds for Play Wales have enabled representatives to serve as advisors and advocates. The cutback in funds sends a negative message for people in all countries who are struggling for recognition of the value of play. Funds run out on September 30 and staff members have received notices of their jobs ending. Now is the critical time for action to restore the funding. Please take a minute to sign the petition here.

Pogo Playing in the Bay Area

Alliance Director of Programs Joan Almon recently spent time with play enthusiasts in the San Francisco Bay Area. She spoke at a conference on play at Stanford University sponsored by its Bing Preschool and Institute. A spirited group of 500 educators, parents, and others attended.

Another high point of the trip was a visit to the Pogo Park project in the Iron Triangle in Richmond, one of the Bay Area's poorest neighborhoods. Toody Maher and her fantastic team are invigorating neighborhoods with play at their heart. They recently won a Google award for their outstanding work.
