Hopefully everyone is having a great summer!
The WTS NC Triangle Chapter recently held its mid-year review. It was a time for us to look back over the past year events, finalize the events for the remainder of the year, and begin to plan for 2015. As always, we had a great time getting together and brainstorming new programs.
Upcoming events include our August luncheon on Private-Public Partnerships in Transportation and a breakfast titled "Choosing Your Future You" in September. Additionally, we have a very exciting membership event for October in the works - several brewery tours! You will be very disappointed to miss out, so look for more details coming soon!
Our chapter has gained 15 new members in 6 months, which is amazing, and we want to keep growing and adding to our chapter. If you're interested in getting more involved or have some great ideas of for topics, please don't hesitate to contact me. Keep watching for our weekly updates - we always have something great on the horizon!

Upcoming for August
Public-Private Partnerships Luncheon
Virginia Mabry with NCDOT's Priority Projects Office will be the guest speaker at our luncheon Aug. 14. She will provide an overview of Public-Private Partnerships (P3) and explain how government entities and private businesses are working together to fund transportation projects in North Carolina. In addition, she will discuss the NCDOT Public Private Partnerships Policy & Procedures" manual that was published in January 2014 and describe some examples of P3 in progress. "Choose Your Future You" Breakfast
Iona Thomas, associate vice president with Stewart Engineering, will discuss investing in yourself and how to achieve the greatest success possible at the next breakfast series on Sept 4. Ms. Thomas will share her path from working as a Washington, D.C., defense analyst to her position today designing some of North Carolina's most ambitious greenways and trail projects. Individual success is tied to how well we are able to connect our daily choices with what is best for our future selves. Ms. Thomas will provide some tips on making and implementing career change decisions. Click here to register.

In Case You Missed It ...
STI Implementation Luncheon
David Wasserman, PE, with the NCDOT Prioritization Office, was the guest speaker at the June luncheon. He gave an overview of NCDOT's Strategic Transportation Investments (STI) implementation, which establishes the Strategic Mobility Formula, a new way of allocating available revenues based on data-driven scoring and local input. Professional Connections
For those looking for networking opportunities within the Chapter, consider joining the Professional Connections program. Each quarter, the members of the program are split into groups of four or five, and each group plans a lunch meeting.
