Dear Gifford Park Association members new and old, friends and neighbors:

I'm writing to explain our new membership policies and to encourage you to join us if you have not already.  Membership is now free, but you have to tell us you want to be a member.  If you were a member in the past, simply let us know that you want to renew your membership.  If you tell us you want to be a member for 2015, we will keep you on the membership rolls until you tell us otherwise.  In other words, you will not have to renew every year.  We hope you will continue to support GPA by renewing your membership.

Your continued support and involvement in our neighborhood is especially important.
When you join the GPA you truly become part of the community: you make friends and meet neighbors. As a member of the GPA, you have a voting voice in the most visible and active community improvement and historic preservation organization in the city.

You have a chance to be a real difference maker. Your membership is important whether or not you can attend meetings or events.  We need your moral support. If we are lobbying for a neighborhood issue it is much better to say we are representing 500 members rather than just one person.  Remember the old saying: One person trying to solve a problem is a citizen.  A hundred people working for change is a constituency.

The Gifford Park Association...Shaping the future by preserving the past!

Annual Membership Dues:
Membership is at no charge.  If you are a new member, you can join by replying to this e-mail and filling out the form in your reply. Meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of each month, unless otherwise noted, at 7 p.m. at the Elgin Area Historical Society Museum located at 360 Park Street.

As Margaret Mead said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
