Project Graduation 2018
Parents of the Class of 2018,

Over the past year, you have received many emails/facebook posts from us as Class Coordinators/Project Graduation 2018 Co-Chairs particularly with regards to fundraising.  Although we fill both roles, our responsibilities for each differ and we would like to take this opportunity to clarify those roles.

The Class Advisor for Class of 2018 - Mrs. Samantha Janiszak - and the Class Officers are responsible for raising funds for the Junior and Senior Proms. Whenever you see "Class of 2018" Fundraising emails/posts from us (for example apparel, movie nights, bowling etc.) please know that these are fundraisers planned and carried out by our Class Advisor and Class Officers to offset the cost for both the Junior and Senior Proms.  Our role as Class Coordinators is to act as liaisons between the Class Advisor, the officers and the parents by communicating the information to you and to support their efforts as needed.  However, when we email/post a fundraiser for Project Graduation 2018, the money raised by those fundraisers is to offset the cost of Project Graduation.

What is Project Graduation ?  And why are we talking about it now?
Project Graduation is a nationally recognized program wherein all the newly graduated students are bussed to one or two venues immediately following their graduation ceremony to celebrate their graduation together. The main purpose of this program is first, to give them all a last chance to spend time together and second, to provide them with a safe, alcohol- free and drug free environment to enjoy the evening and to celebrate their big achievement. Also, the venues/activities planned are a total surprise to the seniors!

This is a costly endeavor and parents of the graduates are asked to contribute towards the cost of this event. However, in an effort to keep the parents' contribution low, the Project Graduation Committee works hard to raise funds but it takes a lot of time.  For this reason, fundraising starts right from the beginning of your student's high school career and continues throughout all four years. Of course, none of this can happen without your help.

For Project Graduation 2018, we are tentatively planning several large fundraisers, which require the help of many volunteers. The events include but are not limited to Military Bridge (scheduled for March 31, 2016), International Day (in September of 2016 and probably 2017 - a carnival like event with cuisine and culture from different countries to be enjoyed by all), Senior Fashion Show (Senior year - the seniors themselves are        usually the models).  Of course, we are open to more ideas and welcome them.

To be successful, an event like Project Graduation with its different components requires a great deal of planning and volunteers. Most importantly, if we do not start now, the out of pocket cost for parents will be much higher.

So please come forward and volunteer for one or more committees within Project Graduation 2018 and help make this event a memorable one for our children.
