Every month I share ways help you to heal as you are going through the grieving process. For this month, I'd like to share an article I wrote for my web site (www.karennoe.com) on how thinking positive thoughts can help you to heal your grief.
How Thinking Positive Thoughts Can
Help to Heal Your Grief
After the death of your loved one, your grief may seem like it will last forever. However, your loved one doesn't want you to be so sad. With most of the readings I do, the messages that come through are, "I'm fine," "You don't need to worry about me," "I want you to be happy."
The first step to begin to feel better emotionally is to think positive thoughts. Easier said than done sometimes, I know! If you feel you are not able to think positive thoughts after losing your loved one, play the "Yes, but" game. That is, after you think a negative thought, follow it with, "Yes, but," and add a statement of something good that came out of it.
For example, you may be thinking of how much you miss your loved one. Then follow that thought with, "Yes, but we had a wonderful life together." And then continue with even more positive thoughts, such as, "I'm so grateful he or she was in my life." If you can, follow that with some funny memories you have of your loved one. And then continue to think of more and more positive aspects and memories. In this way, you'll be focusing on your love and the good times you had with your loved one, instead of his or her absence.
I'm not saying that this will be easy - but it will definitely be worth your effort. Remember, your loved one is okay, and would want you to be, too!

My guest during the second part of the show will be Josie Varga.
Despite having both cerebral palsy and bilateral hearing loss, she considers herself very fortunate, as she prefers to live her life focusing on the positive. Josie does not consider herself disabled, and never will. Her disability, she believes, is her strength, not her weakness.
Discovering her passion for writing as a little girl growing up in Elizabeth, New Jersey, she went on to earn a degree in journalism and worked her way up to Director of Communications and Editor for an international trade association where she met and interviewed celebrities, authors, speakers, sport personalities and others. Josie later became a successful communications consultant while authoring her first book, Footprints in the Sand: A Disabled Woman's Inspiring Journey to Happiness. Since then, she has become a motivational speaker, encouraging audiences to strive to overcome and sharing the importance of having a positive mental attitude in life.
Her second book, Visits from Heaven is a compilation of remarkable experiences by ordinary people who have been communicated with in some way by loved ones who have passed on. Her next book, Visits to Heaven, which can be considered a sequel to Visits from Heaven, focuses on near-death experiences.
Make Up Your Mind to be Happy: 105 Simple Tips is yet another non-fiction work of Josie's. It combines simple, yet effective happiness "tips" with contributions from several renowned experts in the field. "Divine Visits," Josie's fifth title and the second follow-up to her best-selling book, Visits from Heaven, delivers proof of miracles and divine encounters.
A creative thinker, Josie holds patents for two inventions. Josie has also written treatments for a documentary version of Visits From Heaven as well as several new reality television shows, one of which is now being considered by producers in New York City and Los Angeles, California.

I wanted to end this newsletter with a wonderful story from a woman who had a "near death experience" - that is - she actually died and was able to come back to life to talk about it! Firsthand accounts of near death experiences, like this one from Eos Isabel Yolanda, are further proof that the energy of who we are really does continue to exist after our physical bodies have died. Eos, and hundreds of thousands of others, talk about the tremendous peace and light they've encountered when they reached "the other side." Most of them don't want to come back because they feel like they are home. When they do come back, it's because they still have things to do and people to teach and touch with their lives.
"It was the summer of 1985. I was 5 years old and was in the shallow end of the pool. I saw lots of kids and people playing on water slides on the very far end of the swimming pool, and my vision wasn't that good, so I walked towards the deeper end of the pool to see more clearly, and that was when my foot slipped and down I went into the deeper end. I was instantly under water because I didn't know how to swim. I immediately just started to breathe the water, and I could see; it felt so peaceful. I loved it! I loved the feeling of breathing water! It was just such a serene, fascinating experience. I wasn't scared at all!
Next thing I knew, someone picked me up out of the water. I didn't recognize that it was my brother. My mind was at that point where I didn't know who I was or where I was. I started to float out of my body. I remember wondering why my mother was just sitting there reading a magazine and didn't notice what happened. A lifeguard saw my brother and then they put me on the ground and started doing CPR.
Meanwhile, this beautiful tunnel of light in the sky distracted me. The tunnel was like a portal in the sky, but the tunnel itself was full of light with swirls made of clouds. The energy was so calm and serene. I was really drawn to walk into the tunnel and saw three shadowy figures in there. Two were males and one was a female. Somehow I could hear the three voices talking in unison. They looked like people, but they were shadowy and translucent at the same time. They also had facial features. They kept saying, "Go back! Go back! Go back!"
And I said to them, "No I don't want to. She's mean. (my mother) I don't like it there. I love it here." And then they replied, "You aren't done yet! Go back! Go back! Go back!" So I went back, and next thing you know I woke up in the midst of them loading me into the ambulance where they pronounced me dead!"

It is so comforting to hear about what Eos and others have experienced when they were "there" because these stories help us to realize that our loved ones really are in a better place. And when we leave our physical bodies, many years from now, we will be in that better place too!
