Dear Jones Parents,

Thank you to everyone who helped make Saturday's Open House such a great success. This is one of the biggest events in our school calendar, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff, students, and especially our FOJ volunteers. Over the years, many parents have told us that their students were uncertain which school to choose, UNTIL they came to our Open House.  That sealed the deal! In addition to Open House, Administrative Team members have been representing Jones at numerous high school fairs through the city, spreading the word about our great learning community.

Last Wednesday's testing day went exceptionally well, with more than 900 Sophomores and Juniors taking the PSAT/NMSQT. Attendance was excellent, and the students took the test very seriously; students should know their results in the coming weeks. I also want to thank the counselors and other staff who organized and held special programs that day for Freshmen and Seniors.

Homecoming is this week with themed days and activities all week, culminating in the 2nd annual Eagle Games on Friday. The Homecoming dance is 7-10 pm Friday evening, October 23.  All ticket sales are in advance, none will be sold at the door.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time at [email protected] or 773-534-8606.

Best wishes,

P. Joseph Powers, Ph.D.

Freshman Class Liaison

Ahoy, Freshman Class Parents,

During Homecoming Week at Jones, freshmen have the chance to show their class spirit -- and build their class fund, which is used to offset graduation/senior year expenses -- with a Freshman Homecoming Spirit Packet.

The packets will be on sale during lunch for $15, and include a student-designed Jones Class of '19 Homecoming shirt and other goodies and props to help bring to life the Freshman Homecoming "pirate" theme. There are only 200 Freshman packets available, so send cash Monday Oct. 19 to have the best chance to fly the Jones Freshman Class Homecoming colors!

Friends of Jones ANNUAL FUND campaign is underway, and we want you to know this: A gift to Friends of Jones is a gift to all of our students.

Annual Fund donations are used to fund special  initiatives and projects that are not otherwise covered by the school's annual operating budget.  These range from extra computers to sports team bus transportation, choir uniforms, school furniture and library research subscriptions.

The Annual Fund is the largest giving priority as every family can participate and show their support.  A meaningful gift from you  -- whether that's $10 or thousands -- is meaningful to us.

The Jones community is a caring community committed to the excellence of their students and we hope to show others that's the case with a high level of family participation. Why? Because high participation allows us to advance our fundraising with corporate funders and sponsors.  Businesses invest when they see families invest.

Leadership giving levels from $500 and up are especially critical in reaching our fundraising goals each year. Please go to our WEBSITE to read more about the annual fund or click this LINK  to make your tax deductible donation today!

Open House 2015
Jones staff, faculty, students and parents welcomed over 4,500 visitors this weekend during the annual Open House for selective enrollment candidates. Thanks to all the FOJ and student volunteers who made the event such a success!
