The 11th annual King's Cultural Festival is this week on Thursday, February 6th, from 7-10 p.m. in the King Centre!
The Cultural Festival is the largest multicultural event on campus. It features up to 100 performers, cultural booths and draws up to 300 attendees. Catholic Students' Week (Feb. 2nd-9th)
This week is Catholic Students' Week, and to celebrate, Cardinal Carter Library has a display of materials on social justice, community and multi-faith involvement, leadership, service and more that are available for borrowing. The display will be available until mid-February.
Catholic Faith Opportunities (Feb. 4th)
King's students are hosting a celebration of our Catholic Faith in the King Centre on February 4th from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. There will be groups from on and off campus highlighting the many aspects of our Catholic Faith and showing how you can connect!
- Spend 1 year overseas with Scarboro Foreign Missions
- 10 months of voluntary simple reflective living with the Jesuit Volunteers
- Participate in one time campaign with Development and Peace
- Praying regularly with a campus group
- Find out about ongoing education opportunities
Catholic Social Teaching Group
The King's Catholic Social Teaching Group meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. in W149b, right beside the Chapel. We are planning a High School Workshop for Friday, February 28th from 8 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. about the Development and Peace mining campaign to put an end to mining company abuses in the Global South. If you'd like to participate or find out more join us, or contact Annette in Campus Ministry.
Campus Ministry at St. Joseph's Hospitality Centre
On February 8th the King's community will be heading off to the St. Joseph Hospitality Centre to support those less fortunate. We serve baked goods and hot drinks, play music, cards and build community all the while providing a safe and warm place for a few hours on a Saturday night. If you can volunteer to join us for a couple of hours, or provide baked goods (homemade or store bought) or sandwiches please contact Annette in Campus Ministry.

Computers are an integral part of a student's life. Join us for this workshop as Doug Mantle from Counselling & Student Development discusses the ways students can get the most of computers during their undergraduate studies.

Gentle Noon Hour Yoga for all levels will be offered in the Reflection Room, King Centre, from 12:15 p.m. - 1:15 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning February 4th.
Please join us for a hatha yoga class taught by a certified yoga instructor with over 6 years experience. This is an opportunity to release, de-stress, loosen up and feel good in your body while relaxing your mind! Comfortable, non-restrictive clothing is recommended, but feel free to wear anything from jeans to dress pants to leggings. A. Online Intent to Register (ITR), February 3, 2014 to March 31 2014, 4:00 p.m. All returning King's students must submit an ITR online to declare their degree and module choices for September 2014-15 academic year. To complete an online ITR, log in to your Student Services page. Deadline: March 31, 2014, 4 p.m. Students who plan to graduate this year do not need to complete an ITR.
Before you submit:
- Attend Academic Dean's Office and departmental information sessions, as well as sessions by Faculties of Law and Education, Post Grad/Career Counselling and Financial Services (February 3- February 14). The schedule and further information about ITR is posted online, and is available in the Academic Dean's Office and Registrar's Office at King's.
- Read the Academic Calendar to understand your program and course requirements.
- Gather information about your program. See: Degree Check 101 and Program Checklists.
- Meet full-time faculty members during their office hours.
When registering for courses be sure to check pre-requisites, co-requisites and, anti-requisites carefully (www.westerncalendar.uwo.ca).
B. Paper Intent to Register: Students registering in a second degree, a post-degree module, a concurrent degree, diploma and certificate programs; and students not taking any courses in Fall/Winter 2013-2014 must have their paper ITR forms signed by an Academic Counsellor in the Academic Dean's Office (Dante Lenardon Hall, Room 104).
C. Social Work: Students currently enrolled in the BSW program (Year III progressing to Year IV and Extended Study students) must complete an online ITR by March 31, 2014. Students who are applying for admission to the BSW program cannot indicate "Social Work" as a program choice on their ITR. They will submit an online ITR for an alternate/backup degree/module combination, and if admitted to the BSW program, their registration will be changed for them.
D. Information for Course Selection for Fall/Winter 2014-2015 (students will register for courses in June & July 2014). Please make sure to check Residency Requirements.
E. Course Deletions: You may be removed, without notice, from a course for which you are ineligible to be registered (e.g. lack of pre-requisite, course constraints, or residency regulations).
F. Special Assistance: Students who will be unable to access web course registration or contact the Registrar's Office by phone during the summer may submit their course selection to the Registrar's Office at King's before they leave for the summer, or consult the Registrar's Office to make alternate arrangements.

Students in need for Mental Health and Wellness Focus Group!
Mental Health and Wellness are major concerns on campus and we are looking for your help to determine how to improve the support services available at King's.
You are invited to participate in a Student Focus Group to provide your input. Groups will meet for approximately one to one and a half hours and all responses are confidential. English 3998E: Creative Writing Workshop open to King's students from all programs
Students will write creatively in different genres (fiction, poetry, drama and creative non-fiction), and reflect critically on their own work and the work of their peers. Limited to 20 students chosen by the instructors based on samples of creative work.
To enroll this Fall, submit 4-8 pages of your writing in any genre to the Faculty Secretaries' Office (DL 210) by May 30th, 2014. Address the package to Prof. Therese Khimasia, and mark it "Sample for Creative Writing Application." The Centre for Creativity: Call for Actors!
Call for Actors! Rehearsed Reading with Jeff Culbert
Student actors are invited to participate in a rehearsed and staged reading of Choose But Choose Wisely, under the direction of well-known London playwright, actor, dramaturge and director Jeff Culbert, on February 25th, at 4:30 p.m., Kenny Theatre, King Centre. Five actors are needed, and all actors participating in the readings must be available for rehearsals on February 17th, 20th and 24th, from 3:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., as well as for the staged reading on February 25th at 4:30 p.m. (The exact times for the rehearsals will be decided by the group.) Call for Participants! Script Analysis for Theatre: a workshop with Jeff Culbert
Students are invited to participate in a workshop on Script Analysis for Actors and Directors with London playwright, actor, dramaturge and director Jeff Culbert. Successful directing and acting require the ability to make good decisions, and this workshop is about how to analyze a script and get the most out of it. The emphasis will be on interpreting the text, recognizing options and making the most interesting and effective choices. Five spots are available, and the play runs for 80 minutes.
All participants must be available for the workshop and rehearsals on February 17th, 20th and 24th, from 3:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and for the staging of the play on February 25th at 4:30 p.m. At the focus of the workshop will be Mr. Culbert's original play, Choose But Choose Wisely, and the workshop participants are welcome to join the group of five actors who will be working towards a rehearsed and staged reading of the play on February 25th, at 4:30 p.m. If interested, please contact Dawna.

The 2014 Ontario Global Edge Internship Program
Interested in entrepreneurship? Would you like to intern with a small/medium size business in India or Kenya this summer? The Ontario Global Edge internship program is now accepting applications for nine intern spots.
Internships will range in length between 12 to 16 weeks. Selected Ontario Global Edge participants will receive up to $4,000 to support the costs associated with the unpaid internship, funded by the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Employment.
