#NASSMasks
As means of generating a dialogue within the NASSM community, the NASSM Publicity and Promotions Committee has started a Twitter piece called NASSM Asks. Every Monday, we will pose a question on Twitter with the hashtag #NASSMasks. You'll notice that these questions range from current events covering a variety of sport levels to light hearted advice and experience questions. Feel free to weigh in on any and all of these questions. We want to provide a platform to share perspectives from our sport management students, new and established sport management faculty, and leaders within the sport world. Additionally, if you have a question you would like to have the NASSM community weigh in on, tweet us your question, and we may post it as an upcoming #NASSMasks.

NASSM BLOG
In January, the NASSM P&P committee will launch the NASSM Blog. The blog will serve as a means to interact with members more informally about current issues or the latest research, and with time, offer academics and practitioners alike a platform to share industry-relevant information. The blog will feature guest contributors from both academia and industry discussing the latest research, innovations, trends and/or challenges in the sport industry. If you have an topic idea or would like to contribute, please contact Andrea Geurin. Be on the lookout for our first blog post in January 2016!

Feature Story
The NASSM P&P committee proudly presents the new feature article section of the newsletter! If you have an innovative project or assignment, research site, or students that are making news, please share! Send your story ideas to Andrea Geurin. Social Media Success: Sport PR Students Bring ESPN's College GameDay to Wichita State University

BY ANDREA N GEURIN

In the past, Mike Ross's sport public relations classes at Wichita State University typically completed a social media assignment centered on a fictitious topic such as an imaginary Heisman Award campaign or Naismith Award campaign. In the fall of 2014, however, Ross saw an opportunity for his students to make a real difference for the university, and the assignment turned into one that led to WSU hosting ESPN's College GameDay show in February 2015. CONTINUE READING

Student Board Update
The Student Board has exciting quality student-based initiatives for all student members at the upcoming NASSM 2016 in Orlando. This year we will be hosting the Student Luncheon, as well as three initiatives lead by the Student Representatives - Allison Musser, Kyle Rich, and Kylie Wasser - based on your valuable feedback!

Student Symposium: Developing a cohesive, impactful research agenda is tough but important, so this year, the student symposium will focus on developing a research agenda. Faculty will lead the first half of the symposium and the second half will be dedicated to a Q&A.

Student-Mentor Program: Based on your feedback, we will be making changes to the student-mentor program this year. While we will continue to provide mentor opportunities, the format for this year's initiative will not be limited to the President's Luncheon to allow for more flexibility and longer discussion. Look out for the emails describing the changes to this initiative.

Student Social: This year, the Student Board will be actively facilitating icebreaker games, aimed at expanding students' peer network. These networks are a great way to find peer mentors, friends and future colleagues.

Online Elections: Elections for the NASSM Student Board and External Committee will be online this year. This allows for NASSM student members to read through the candidates' qualifications as they vote and facilitates a broader voting base. Since there will be some changes this year regarding the elections and the student-mentor program, keep an eye out for emails with more information

Looking forward to seeing you in Orlando!
