The holidays are a special time of the year to cherish time with friends and family, reflect upon the good things in our lives, and look forward to the year ahead. For those living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias and their families, however, the holidays can also be challenging. Feelings of sadness about how the condition has changed a loved one or family dynamics, concern about ensuring a loved one is safe and well during holiday gatherings, and anxiety about maintaining daily routines are common emotions.
In order to help the individuals and families with whom you work have an enjoyable holiday season, check out DCPA's newest training video (see "DCPA Happenings" for more information) to strengthen your communication skills and develop strategies for working effectively with families. Be sure to also take a look at AFA's

Each month, AFA offers
a free, monthly teleconference--Care Connection-- geared toward professional and family care partners.
Featuring an array of leaders and experts in the field, Care Connection, which is held the second Thursday of each month from 1 to 2 pm ET, seeks to provide care partners with valuable knowledge on topics related to Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, including medical, behavioral, practical and social.
As a participant, you will have the chance to ask questions and learn from other listeners.
