Dr. McIvor's sermon is "The Social God" based on Matthew 28.16-20. God is One in Three Persons, blessed Trinity. So say the creeds in expressing this bedrock Christian doctrine. Yet the doctrine of the Trinity remains the most difficult of all Christian doctrines to explain and understand. Practically speaking, therefore, many Christians just ignore it and use language about God, Jesus, and the Spirit that sounds like there are three gods. Jesus told his disciples to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. But this thrice-named God is truly One God.
