COMING SOON...
This year's Regional Practice Sessions will be held at the end of September. They will be held in Appleton, Bayfield, Eau Claire, Madison, and Milwaukee.
This year we will be trying a new format, with video examples to critique and learn from, as a group. While this format won't include role playing, it will allow providers to discuss and share how they handle resistant clients and challenging situations. In addition to this valuable experience, we will also have a number of presentations on timely topics. Look for more information in next month's newsletter!

E-Cigarettes and How to Talk About Them |
You: "Tell me about your tobacco use."
Mom: "Oh, I don't smoke. I vape."
You feel a tickle of confusion in your brain, wondering if your client suddenly slipped into a different language. Seeing the misunderstanding on your face, she pulls out a pen-shaped object from her purse and holds it up for you to see. It has a sleek black look, a few small buttons, and a small transparent plastic section in which a clear liquid sloshes around. So what exactly is an e-cigarette and how should you talk to your clients about it? Read this month's article on e-cigarettes to learn more about them and how to discuss them with your First Breath clients. |
