Free Electronics Recycling Event - The City of Westland, Vintage Tech Recyclers and LG Electronics have joined forces to bring a free solution for responsible electronics recycling to area residents.  This event will take place on Saturday, October 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 7365 Nankin Blvd.  Residents may bring electronics which may be taking up space at home such as:  Computers, laptops, monitors, LCD's, cell phones, printers, scanners, modems, CD drives, cables, keyboards, mice, televisions, VCR's, DVD players, camcorders, cameras, game players, joysticks, telephones, pagers, answering machines, typewriters, calculators, adding machines, fax machines and copiers.  

 

Rock Star Savers Halloween Party and Parade - Co-op Services Credit Union invites families to join their mascot, Rock Star Savers, for a special Halloween Party and Parade at the Westland Shopping Center, located at 35000 Warren Road on Saturday, October 26.  The event is sponsored by the credit union as well as the Radio Disney Jr. Road Crew and will run from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Rock Star Play Area near the J.C. Penny Department Store.  Children are encouraged to come dressed in costumes and participate in the Costume Parade.  There will be to separate parades, one beginning at 12:15 p.m. and the other beginning at 1:15 p.m. 

 

Octoberfest - Bring the whole family to celebrate Octoberfest on Saturday, October 26 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for hot dogs, pumpkin and face painting, cider and donuts and an opportunity to meet the Police Dogs "Friday" and "Narco" The event is free and takes place at the Dorsey Center located at 32715 Dorsey. Free Halloween Candy Screening - Parents and guardians of Westland's ghosts, goblins and other creatures are encouraged to get their Halloween candy checked out before they eat it. Westland's 18th District Court, located at 36675 Ford Road, is hosting a free candy check on Halloween night, Thursday, October 31, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. There is no limit to the amount of candy that may be brought in.  

General Election and Veteran's Day alter City Building's Hours - Don't forget to cast your vote in the General Election on Tuesday, November 5. City Offices will be closed on Election Day with the exception of the City Clerk who will be open for election business ONLY. The 18th District Court and The William P. Faust Library will remain open.  In addition, all City Offices will be closed in honor of Veteran's Day, Monday, November 11, including the 18th District Court and the William P. Faust Library. Garbage pick-up, recycling and compost will not be affected for either day.
