Blessed, Inspired & Grateful: Be BIG for God

October 21, 2015

Hello Beautiful Souls!

Sitting this morning with open windows, hearing thunder rumbling gently in the distance, I am reminded how gorgeous and refreshing Life Itself can be.  We ' ve had a gorgeous beginning of Fall at the West Valley Center for Spiritual Living.  Refreshed from vacations, reconnected at our Volunteer Recognition Luncheon and mini retreat, re-inspired by poetry on Tuesdays and refreshingly empowered through Martial Arts on Saturdays ... my, my!  What an exquisite Autumn experience in the west valley.

Add to that the list of new classes and Bingo and our New Member Celebration, one can see that things are really alive at our Center.  I am feeling so blessed by this loving, joy-filled community where everyone feels welcome.  And if you 're looking for a church home, come check us out because we 've got something for you too!!

This weekend we 're invited to dress-up in our best costume because Halloween only comes once a year.  (And Rev. Karen likes to dress up!)

The title of the message is, "Push 'em Back, Push 'em Back " and it should be interesting to see what unfolds with a lead in like that!!   And our musical experience is likely to involve a little ukulele.  (That was hard to spell!)  The West Valley welcomes back the wonderful Shannon O 'Brien, so don 't miss a moment of the fun as we reveal Truth in our own unique style!!

Our family month begins the following week with the theme:  "Let 's Do This! "  Mark your calendar for November 22 where we will celebrate our 5th annual Family Meeting together.  And speaking of 5 's, The 5th Annual Gott Talent Show coming up quickly now!!!   (See the info below for this is another favorite!)

So much good always going on at WVCSL!!

I love you very much,

Rev. Karen
New Class: "The Answer is You" with Rev. Cheryl

Join Rev. Cheryl Hawkins for a 5-week class: "The Answer is You." Cost is $75 (or $15/class) and will meet Mondays, 10/19 through 11/16/15 from 6-8 pm.

When we experience challenges in our daily affairs, we tend to spend the majority of our time running "hither and thither" in search of that Golden Answer that will magically reveal the health, peach, joy, and prosperity we sorely crave.

And then there comes a point where we tire of hitting those outer walls and begin to seek our answers in the one and only place they could ever really exist--within ourselves!

Our focus in this class will be to ask the questions that take us deeper within ourselves in order to find the answers that enable us to transcend mediocrity. The deeper we look, the more answers we find, and the more choices we realize are available to us. It is our own answers that unlock our Super Powers.

This class will be a 5-week intensive for stepping beyond our "Why Me?" victim-consciousness and into the realization that regardless of our issues or our questions, The Answer is (always) You! Where this class differs from others is that we will go beyond knowing our answers to practicing the answers we know. All are welcome!

Text: The Answer is You by Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith (click here to watch his PBS special by this name)

Class fee: $75 or $15/class

Halloween Spooks. . . at my Church?

It's that time to dress up for fun and laughs--in costume if you'd like.  Join us this Sunday, October 25th, in playing at our annual "Dress Up Sunday."  However, costumes are not a requirement for coming to share time with your spiritual home for Sunday Service.  Who (or what) will Rev. Karen be this year????  ( Click here for a little musical treat to put you in the mood.)

GOTT Talent?

Of course you do!

Share it with your WVCSL family at our 5th Annual Gott Talent Show fundraiser on Saturday November 7th.  Sign up in the bookstore to share your unique gifts--singing, dancing, telling a joke.  It sure to be an evening of laughs and entertainment.  Love donation opportunity.
Metaphysical Book Group for 11/8/15

The book group selection for November 8th is I Can See Clearly Now, a memoir by Wayne Dyer.

Dyer says, "I wasn't aware of all of the future implications that these early experiences were to offer me. Now, from a position of being able to see much more clearly, I know that every single encounter, every challenge, and every situation are all spectacular threads in the tapestry that represents and defines my life, and I am deeply grateful for all of it."

The book will be available through the bookstore. Everyone is welcome to join the discussion whether you read the book or not. Note that the discussion is a week early because of the Annual Holiday Bazaar.

Calling All Bakers and Candy Makers!

Do you like to bake?  We need your help!

The holiday bazaar will feature a table of cookies, candies, and other baked goods--available to shoppers by love offering.  Last year this was one of the top money-makers for WVCSL.

If this is your passion, please whip up your favorite holiday specialty and bring it on Saturday or Sunday.  Sign-up sheet is available in the bookstore--but sign-up is not required.  And if you aren't a baker, be a buyer!

Global Oneness Day - Saturday, October 24th

Global Oneness Day is a day dedicated to celebrating Oneness.

Similar to Earth Day, which galvanized the global environmental movement, Global Oneness Day has become a catalyst for spiritual activism and the emerging global Oneness movement. It represents a profound new paradigm in human culture.

In the late 1960s the first photographs of the Earth seen from space powerfully impacted humanity. We realized that all life on our beautiful blue planet was deeply connected. This understanding has deepened and expanded as more people recognize that Oneness is Divine, and the very essence of our being.

Today Oneness is expressed through many diverse streams - religions, philosophies, mystical and indigenous traditions, and the sciences. These streams are overflowing their banks, co-mingling, and converging to form a single stream, a universal Oneness movement.

Global Oneness Day is our day to celebrate unity in our diversity, as a community consecrated to serving humanity's collective awakening.

For more info on how you can participate, click here.  Below is a message from Rev. Dr. Kenn Gordon, Spiritual Leader for the Centers for Spiritual Living.

How about a good movie?

Our new DVD rental program will be starting up soon.  We are still looking for DVDs (and audio books) to add to the catalog.  You can drop off new and lightly used flicks from your collection that you've already watched and no longer need.  Or, if you find some good selections at a sale, consider buying and donating them.  Boxes are located in the bookstore or Papke Hall.  If you have any questions, contact Diana Kurlak.  THANK YOU!

(Practitioners are bound by a strict Code of Ethics which requires them to serve you on a confidential basis.  The Practitioner, who does not advise, will listen to your description of the conditions you are experiencing and through inquiry will determine first cause. This cause is the belief at work that is creating your current effects. The Practitioner will then assist you in reversing the limiting thought, and through Spiritual Mind Treatment will set the changes in motion.)
