Happy Spring! Despite the snow, we only have three months left in the 2013-2014 Program Year. We have a full schedule through June. Here's a quick overview of our events and activities:

  • 17 contract professionals took their CFCM exam after spending eight Saturdays together as part of the chapter's CFCM Study Group. I know that they all did great and we will announce our new CFCM's once results are determined by NCMA HQ.
  • Our Chapter Officers traveled to San Diego for the NCMA Spring Leadership Summit to receive our Gold Graalman award which we will display at our April Seminar. We are also looking forward to their feedback on the first NCMA Subcontract Management Training Forum.
  • The chapter's regular monthly seminar takes place on Friday, April 18, 2014, and will focus on Development & Issues on Debarments and Suspensions. See the article below. Registration is now open!

Finally, the formal call for candidates for the 2014-2015 Program Year was made last week. All prospective candidates are requested to reply by email and submit an introductory resume/summary biography by April 11, 2014. Chapter elections will take place during the latter part of April via email to all registered Chapter members. The winners will be determined by a simple majority of votes by validated chapter members. Voting will end April 26th, and the elected officers introduced on or before the June meeting. Questions or responses may be submitted to Keith Dill, Nominations Committee Chair, at [email protected].

As always, if you have any comments or suggestions for the chapter, please let me know by emailing [email protected].

This Month's Chapter Seminar: Debarments & Suspensions

The federal government has greatly increased its use of suspension and debarment. Join us for a discussion of the trends in suspension and debarment activity as well as best practices in areas that impact potential suspension and debarment actions.

In this seminar you will learn about:

  • Trends in suspension and debarment activity, including:
    • Types of cases
    • Various approaches agencies are using to resolve such actions.
  • Best practices in compliance and ethics
    • Values-Based Ethics and Compliance Programs
    • Internal Investigations
    • Disclosure Practices
    • Engagement with Suspension Debarment Officials
Our speaker is Todd Canni of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP. Trends In Debarments and Suspensions takes place on April 18 at 8:30AM with networking and a hot breakfast starting at 7:30AM. The cost is only $35! Click here for additional information and to register.
Spotlight On: Chapter Executive Council Monthly Meetings

The Chapter Executive Council typically meets on the first Friday of each month to conduct chapter business. This includes a review of the chapter finances, membership status, upcoming events, and other items.

The meetings are usually held via conference call. The meetings are open to all chapter members should they wish to listen. If you're interested in attending a meeting, email Chapter President Heather Dallara at [email protected]
