Shop Del Prado Campaign a Success
The Shop Del Prado promotion, launched by the Chamber and the City of Dana Point this past January and ending this month, received an overwhelming response. With over $93,000 in purchases made to date, the promotion motivated the community to support businesses affected by the recent construction on Del Prado.

By offering a monthly Enter-to-Win, the Shop Del Prado campaign encouraged residents to shop and dine at affected businesses. Each Grand Prize package included a one-night stay at one of Dana Point's resorts, a meal for two at a local Dana Point restaurant and a recreational activity gift card with a total retail value from $350 to $750. The package changed monthly and included generous donations from area hotels, restaurants and retailers.

Word spread about the promotion throughout the community using joint social media messaging, print advertising and publicity. Area residents visited the Chamber office delivering receipts each month, submitting one entry per every $10 spent at Del Prado businesses. Monthly winners were presented with their Grand Prize certificates at the Del Prado business and photographed by the Dana Point Times. The Shop Del Prado Campaign was successful by increasing awareness of Del Prado businesses and encouraged our community frequent Del Prado businesses during construction.

A special thank you goes out the hotels, restaurants and retailers throughout Dana Point who donated prizes for the Shop Del Prado Campaign. It's rewarding to see how the City of Dana Point, the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce, local businesses and our community came together to support the approximate 100 businesses along Del Prado during street construction.

Running for a Cause - Dana Point Turkey Trot Chooses Family Assistance Ministries as Charity for 2015
We are elated to announce that we have selected San Clemente-based non-profit Family Assistance Ministries as this year's non-profit partner for the 38th Annual Dana Point Turkey Trot!

Family Assistance Ministries (FAM), a hunger and homeless prevention agency providing services in South Orange County, helps hundreds of households each year. FAM offers food and personal care items, financial assistance and transitional housing as well as life skills training to regain self-sufficiency. Currently, FAM is conducting a Job-Readiness Program prepping individuals in their program for positions at a new local shopping center, the Outlets at San Clemente, opening this fall.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with FAM again. This will be our third year supporting this wonderful organization that does so much for the South County communities." said Heather Johnston, Executive Director of the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce.

"We appreciate the generous spirit of the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce, the community and all race participants," said Mary Gray Perdue, Executive Director of FAM. "Over 3,600 individuals seek assistance from FAM each month - and another 3,000 more over the holidays so we really rely on our partners and volunteers to assist those in need."

A portion of each registration from the 38th Annual Dana Point Turkey Trot will be donated to FAM. Participants can also make an additional donation during the registration process or by visiting our Charity page.

Welcome Our New Members!
Sit Means Sit Dog Training

Sit Means Sit Dog Training is owned and operated by Marv and Marlene Pinckert. We are very excited to become new members of the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce. We have been working together as a team for many years training and preparing dogs for the AKC conformation rings. Our dogs have achieved Champion status and have been invited and participated in the AKC Nationals as seen on TV. Our family owned and operated a Sit Means Sit franchise in Colorado Springs and became one of the top producing franchises in the country successfully training over 1800 dogs.

The Sit Means Sit Dog Training program is based on in-home one on one training with you and your pet. As a result of our training program many of our clients are able to prepare their dogs to become therapy dogs and/or service dogs.

We are excited to bring this proven training technique to the Dana Point area. We look forward to helping our new Southern California clients achieve happy and obedient dogs.
