One Great Hour of Sharing Offering: On Easter Sunday, April 20, we will be receiving the One Great Hour of Sharing offering. Since 1949, Presbyterians have joined with millions of other Christians through this special offering to share God's love with those in need. This offering helps support the work of Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Self-Development of People program and the Presbyterian Hunger Program.

Join Us for Easter Brunch!
As part of our Easter Sunday celebration this year, please plan to attend the Easter Brunch here at UPC. The Congregational Life and Worship Committees will host a potluck brunch at 9:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall this Easter Sunday, April 20.

Beverages will be provided and we ask that each member of the congregation bring a breakfast dish to share, such as quiche or fruit. We often have a surplus of sweetened bread items so the congregation is encouraged to bring savory items, like egg dishes, as well as fruit. We hope you can join us on this joyous occasion!

Church School and Educational Opportunities

Church school and elective classes are available for all ages of members and guests. Classes meet each Sunday from 9:45-10:45 a.m.

Term 6: Through May 18, 2014

*No Church School this Sunday, April 20. Church School will return next Sunday, April 27.

Stations of the Heart: Parting with a Son, a memoir by Richard Lischer, a professor of divinity at Duke University. This is the story of one last summer and the young man, Adam, who lived it as honestly and faithfully as possible. We meet Adam in many phases of his growing up, but always through the narrow lens of his undying hope, when in the final season of his life he becomes his family's spiritual leader. This poignant love story of a father for his son is at once funny, heartbreaking and hopeful. Adam's life and death surely changed his parents and his family. We hope it will change yours, as well. Copies are available in the Kindle version on Amazon for $10.97, and a limited number of hardcopies are in the church office for $10. Facilitator: Jim Schultz. Location: Garden Room.

Feasting on the Word: Join us for reflections, activities and conversations that will help you encounter each other and God through the rhythm of the Revised Common Lectionary. Each class will focus on the lectionary text of that particular Sunday, and this year, we'll bring in a variety of additional resources and media to help us to make God's story our story. Facilitators: Variety of Members and Guests. Location: Education Office.

Holy Grounds: An Informal Gathering for Coffee and Conversation: This class recognizes that Christian fellowship is one of the strongest bonds among people and aims to provide a space for gathering and great "stand alone," one-on-one and small group discussions. Whether you drink coffee or not, come join us for fellowship and spiritual renewal! Facilitator: UPC Member. Location: Fellowship Hall near the Landing.

Connections: The Christian Response to Divisiveness and Inequality: As political, economic and social issues these days create chasms between neighbors, God calls us to be bridge builders and peacemakers. The topics we cover will follow the themes of Preparation, Justice and Forgiveness. We'll be watching relevant films, reading and discussing interesting articles and books and hosting special guests to illuminate these topics. Facilitators: Variety of Members and Guests. Location: Terrace Room.

Discovering the Bible: Class at capacity. Facilitator: Anna Pinckney Straight. Location: Vance Barron Hall.

We look forward to worshiping with you!

Grace and Peace,
