Watch for our display ... coming soon to the lobby! "NIS PTs ... help get your kids off on the right foot!" Our children are beautiful and handsome. They are dressed beautifully every day and some of their outfits are so wonderful that we can't get over them! But ... this is a preschool ... and this is physical therapy (and gym, and the playground.) We want our children to move freely - to run, jump, hop, skip, and climb. We suggest correctly fitting sneakers or shoes (not too small or too BIG) with sturdy rubber bottoms. What we DON'T recommend are crocs, flip-flops, heels, or any other shoes that don't support your child's growth and activity. One last suggestion: If your child insists on certain shoes, or if particular shoes must be worn to compete an outfit ... how about a pair of sneakers in a backpack for playground play (every day, weather permitting), for gym, and for physical therapy? Thank You! |

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY |
Play is the occupation of a child 1. Try placing paper on the wall, floor or easel while coloring or drawing. 2. For easy clean-up, use a large vinyl tablecloth when playing with messy materials such as water play, paint and play-doh. 3. Try broken crayons instead of markers. 4. Outside play is fun. Encourage use of playground equipment (under close supervision.) 5. Have your child assist in household activities, such as folding washcloths, wiping counter-tops and washing their own toys. Squirt bottles are useful. 6. Play dress-up. 7. Tummy time play with fine manipulatives: legos, cars and puzzles. Remember learning through play is fun! |
