Oakcliff April 19 Open - Grade 5
The Oakcliff Open is an ISAF Grade 5 event to be sailed in SM 40's with a crew of 5 or 6.
Continuing our highly regarded format from last year, for 2014 the weekend grade 5's will be a one day clinegatta. There will also be Tuesday Night Grade 5's where 2 Tuesdays in a row will be racing and the combined round robin score from the two days will be one Grade 5.
New for 2014 all grade 5s will be a Series with a series score. We will also keep series scores for just the Tuesday night grade 5's and weekend grade 5's. So get your teams together and have them ready for the series.
We start at 10:15 to allow for people to take the train from NYC and arrive on time. We will do a quick registration and introduction. There will be a brief Q & A about match racing, an explanation of the days drills and rotation sheets. Then it is off to the boats and the drills. A short break to eat the lunch you brought and then into the round robin regatta. We end the day with a debrief at Oakcliff in time for make the trains back to NYC or to get home for dinner.
A jammed packed day. A little match race education, drills and experience all with a regatta where the skipper can earn ISAF skipper points.
Remember to bring a water bottle, lunch and snack, and sunscreen.
We highly encourage registering as a complete team. Individuals can register and we will place them where possible.
Volunteers are very highly regarded and appreciated by the participants and Oakcliff. We need Race Committee and Umpires so come out and build your skills.
Email Bill with your availability and area of interest.
All participants must read and acknowledge the Oakcliff Safety Rules and Regulations.
