Yoga + Lunch + ... Rain!
The EWGA Sacramento Education Division hosted 31 women at Granite Bay Golf Club on Monday, March 31st for an introduction to Yoga for Golfers and lunch in a beautiful setting.  While the rain required a postponement of the golf, it didn't put a damper on the enthusiasm of the group for the yoga session or the lunch and opportunity to visit with friends and network with new acquaintances. PWGA members and EWGA guests joined members in this fun and informative event.

 

Marilyn Herbert, LPGA Professional and Yoga for Golfers instructor, took participants through a 1� hour series of yoga poses to enhance golf performance and prevent injuries.  She shared tips for loosening up for a round of golf, including stretches to do even before getting out of bed in the morning, while safely driving to the course and during the round. Golf at Granite Bay will be rescheduled and registrants will be notified via email.

Many of the participants expressed interest in attending the Yoga for Golfers class that Marilyn teaches at Woodcreek Golf Course. For those of you who missed out, Marilyn is teaching at Woodcreek on Monday, April 14 and Monday 28 at 3:30 p.m. in concert with our Monday night casual play. Antelope Greens = Rain

 

It was very disappointing on Saturday, March 29 when Pam had to make the call to cancel the Antelope Greens Play Day because of rain ... yes, we need the rain, but wouldn't it be nice if it didn't rain on the weekends?? 

 
Trunk Show -- This Sunday!!

Don't forget about the Trunk Show to benefit the First Tee of Sacramento.  It is going to be at Linda Reid's house THIS Sunday, April 6 from 3:00-6:00.  

 

This is a great cause, and a great chance to add to your wardrobe without spending a fortune!!  How can you not go??

EWGA Cup Team

Once again the Sacramento Chapter is hoping to field at least one team of 8 women to participate in the EWGA Cup. This competition consists of a 2 day regional qualifier and a 2 day national Championship event. To qualify for the team a member must be in good standing, have at least 2 - 18 holes rounds posted to their scoring record prior to registration, be available to play all days of competition and accept the financial commitment associated with all levels of the competition.

 

This year the Regional competition will be held at Mission Hills Golf Club, Rancho Mirage, CA. Though the cost has not yet been posted you can expect it to be between $250 and $350 for tournament entry, plus the cost of lodging, food and travel expenses.

 

If our team qualifies for the finals, that competition will be held Dec 7-8, at Troon North, Scottsdale, AZ. Last year the cost for the entry into the Championship competition was $435, then again you would have the cost of travel, lodging and food. There was about a $100 resort credit included in the entry fee which could be used for food or anything else at the resort.

 

How many teams we send will depend upon the interest. If there are only 8 interested ladies those ladies will be the team, if there are 16 then we will field 2 teams. If there are between 8 and 15 or more than 16, we will be required to have a qualifier.

 

There will be practice sessions prior to the regional event as well as strategy/rules discussions and sessions. I encourage anyone who is interested in this event to sign up for the Rules Clinic for Match Play being offered on April 8th at Haggin Oaks from 5:30 to 7pm. Register online via our webpage.

 

This is a great event and I encourage anyone who has a desire to be part of a team competition to please sign up as an interested member. Entries open May 1st for team registration which is first come first serve for any of the regional events, so I would like to get a list of those interested ASAP. Please be sure that you are willing to commit to the time and financial obligation.

Haggin Oaks Expo - Volunteers needed!
 
The 39th Annual Haggin Oaks Golf Expo is Northern California's own PGA show - April 25, 26 and 27. If you love golf, don't miss your chance to test all the hottest equipment from all the major manufacturers. Visit with golf lifestyle vendors and see the latest in golf. This show is the big one! America's largest demo days. Free expo for golf enthusiasts!


As usual, EWGA Sacramento will have a booth at the Haggin Oaks Golf Expo so that we can tell everyone how great we are!! We need help running the booth for 2 hour shifts between 8:30am and 5:30pm on all three days (Friday, April 25- Sunday, April 27). We hope get 3 people in the booth for each shift. If you can volunteer for any of these times (and feel free to sign up for more than one shift!), follow the directions below. During the slow times, you'll be able to check out the rest of the Expo! If you are planning on coming out to the Expo anyway, why not spend some time in the EWGA booth!!
