A PLAN to GIVE
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son....
~John 3.16
Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Christ!
Once there was a tree and she loved a boy....
So begins the book, The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.
As its name suggests, the story is a tale about giving. The tree gives the boy her branches to hang from when he longs to play, apples to sell when he needs money, her branches to build with when he asks for a home, her trunk to carve a boat out of when he wants to get away, and a stump to sit on when he must rest his weary bones. This book can be seen from a variety of angles- but today I offer this as a book about generosity. At each intersection of giving the tree responds: the tree was happy.
Generosity is the habit of giving freely without expecting anything in return. True generosity brings joy and happiness to the giver- it just happens. Practicing GENEROSITY is important. How do we teach our kids to say please and thank you? We have them practice. In the same way- we learn to be generous by being generous. I have learned that the more I give of my time and talent and treasures, the easier it is to give. In the practicing, I learn to trust that there is enough.
Generosity happens in many ways at Hosanna. So many of you give freely of your time and talent and treasure. You say YES when we call looking for people to HELP in the kitchen or preparing mailings or building maintenance or mentoring a confirmation student or baking a pie or.... The list goes on and you say YES. Thank you- for the many ways you GIVE without expecting anything in return.
Early in November a Thank You letter and Giving Plan card were mailed out to all members and friends. This week you have an opportunity to be generous with your money. I am inviting you to join me in making a FINANCIAL GIVING PLAN to support the mission and ministry of your church; to be consistent and disciplined in your financial giving to Hosanna by making a plan. I am inviting you to practice with me, to trust with me, to give with me, to be generous with me. On Sunday, November 22 your 2016 Giving Plan will be received during worship as we dedicate and bless these gifts for God's work in the world.

Countdown to Hosanna's FMSC MobilePack
on April 1 & 2, 2016 = 135 Days!!!
God has blessed Hosanna richly. You can help reflect that love by supporting this mission to enrich the lives
of so many children by providing needed nutrition
in order for them to thrive.
We need to raise $30,000 to cover cost of the food
and another $5,000 for building maintenance
following the MobilePack.
Hundreds of volunteers will be needed
on April 1 & 2 to help pack the food
.
Ways YOU Can Help
- Take home a Change-4-Change glass jar and continue to fill it with loose change and/or currency and bring it to worship on Sunday mornings or Wednesday nights at connect360.
- Write a check to "Hosanna" (write "FMSC" on memo line).
- Tell your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, etc. about this MobilePack and ask them to sign up for one or more of the time slots or even organize a team to sign up. We will soon publish a link for volunteers to sign up online for a time that best works for them.

Spend less. Give more. Come join us on Saturday as we make our own Christmas gifts for family and friends. Bring your own crafts to work on and visit with friends and family or participate in the DIY demonstrations. We will have demonstrations for 3 different gifts, with complete step-by-step help. Supplies will be provided for those who
PRE-REGISTER by December 2. There will be small fees for each project to cover cost of supplies. Christmas movies will be playing during the event, lots of fun for the whole family. Open to all ages, young kids do need

An afternoon play and then a time for conversation
about what we experienced.
Cost: $28 per person.
The PLAY: Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol at the Park Square Theatre in downtown St. Paul. This new twist on the traditional Christmas play brings Jacob Marley out of the shadows, away from the doorknocker and into the spotlight to get his version of the Charles Dickens classic.
The PAUSE: Great Waters Brewing Company (a short walk from the theatre) following the play - an optional time to have dinner and conversation.

Pie gift cards are $12.50 each and are valid at any Village Inn or Baker's Square nationwide. The card buys one whole pie of 10 popular varieties (other varieties may require an additional $2). During the service, a member of your family will be invited to come forward to receive a memorial ornament bearing the name of your loved one. We hope that you will choose to take this with you and display it in your home as a lasting remembrance of the love and joy that you shared. Please extend the invitation to all your family and friends.
