September  2015
President's Message

Dear Coaches,

I hope you are well and enjoying the last bit of summer.  It's great to catch up with you, as it's been an exciting month!

"Co-creating Coaching Cultures: How Partnerships between Business Leaders & Coaches Make It Happen", the August 28th Live Streaming event, was a huge success.  Many thanks to Dr. Terrence Maltbia, who provided Columbia University space for NYC, and our September Featured Coach. The event attracted more than 200 attendees, 47 of which joined us live in NYC.

Program highlights included the following best practices:
  • Created an approach grounded in neuroscience and evidence-based practices
  • Communicated a company specific, clear definition of coaching
  • Used coaching demonstrations
  • Focused on 1-on-1 coaching conversations with both internal and external coaches
  • Defined coaching behaviors and purpose and differentiated them from other leadership behaviors, such as teaching, directing, performance management.

Thanks to Susan Hahn, past president of ICF's MD Chapter for involving NYC. And, special thanks to Joy Passey, Director of Marketing and Communications and President Elect, who led the NYC effort, and Susan Ginsberg O'Sullivan, Director of Professional Development, and  Yana Blackwelder, Director of Strategic Alliances, who provided on-site event support. The North East Chapter Regional Advisory Committee was the driver of this event and they have plans to do more strategic collaboration!

ICF NYC Chapter Board Elections are coming up soon!

Board elections will take place in November. Interested in serving on the 2016 Board? Please let us know. Open 2016 positions are Treasurer, Director of Membership, and Director of Sponsorship.
