TRANSFORMATIONS

God's grace is transformational. It takes both an instant and a lifetime to be transformed, and the impact has the great potential to be far reaching.

Spiritual teacher and author Marianne Williamson notes,

"Personal transformation can and does have global effects. As we go, so goes the world, for the world is us. The revolution that will save the world is ultimately a personal one."

We have the opportunity daily to be extraordinary. The call from God to God's own servant and beloved, is a call to bring justice not necessarily with a rumble or shout, or even with the world wind that would blow out a flickering wick. It is a call to the steadfastness, steadiness and strength of God's Spirit and God's delight. Transformed by the very essence of God's breath, the Spirit, we each have great potential. Potential for compassion, potential for the tough conversations shared in love, and potential for ministry work as an outflow of that transformative grace.  What remains for each of us to realize that potential is for us to say yes to being transformed and say "yes" to the call of God.

In preparation for Sunday worship, I invite you to read Matthew Chapter 3. Our scripture focus will be Matthew 3: 13-17 and Isaiah 42:1-9, and the events surrounding Jesus' baptism and public ministry.

SHARE PROGRAM

 PLACE YOUR ORDERS THIS SUNDAY

"If you have food, share it with those who are hungry."

Luke 3:11b (The Message Bible)

With great excitement, the Pastoral Care Ministers of MCCDC will offer food value packages through the "SHARE" Food Network Program.  Everyone is invited to participate.  You can purchase one of these wonderful food value packages, by seeing one of our Pastoral Care Ministers.

You also can become a caring share financial sponsor for someone else. Let one of the Pastoral Care Ministers know if you want to provide a tax deductible donation to MCCDC's "Share" Program Ministry. Volunteers are needed to assist with picking up the food subsidy items, from the Share Warehouse.  The food distribution will take place, here at the MCCDC.

This "SHARE" Program Ministry is also a great opportunity for high school students to receive community service credit hours.  The Pastoral Care Ministers received official training in providing the forms and verification high school students to receive credit for community service hours.

The JANUARY Share Program schedule is listed below:

The Board of Director's met in December and approved the investment of $220,000.00 to the 472 Property. The investment will be taken from the Contingency Reserve and the Capital Projects Funds. Once completed, the building will have four floors and a rooftop terrace. Completion is expected in March and will yield rental income estimated at $12,000 per month. The rental income will pay the church mortgage and pay the investment back to both the Contingency Reserve and the Capital Projects within five years. The building is estimated to be worth $1million dollars when completed.

BIBLE STUDY
APPLYING OUR FAITH

What is in your Christian tool kit? Hebrews 11:1 states: "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."   The upcoming 2014 Bible study will be exploring how to apply our faith to our daily personal journey with Christ. The focus of this study will revolve around four themes: Spiritual Tools, Personal Growth, Developing your Walk with God and Tools for Spiritual Defense. Each theme during the series is intended to provide spiritual tools to guide your personal journey with Christ by promoting a better understanding of how to apply the 66 wonderful books we call the Bible to our daily lives.

We are called to build our spiritual formation from the solid foundation of the Word.

                                             (See Rom. 10:17)

I ask the simple question once again: "What is in your Spiritual tool kit?
