Brighten and Beautify Your Basement
While it is common for many of our homes here in the northeast to include a basement, I imagine that many of them, though technically finished, are not done so with the same attention to detail that we devote to the rest of our homes.
Basements (and attics) are often regarded as an afterthought. Too often, they become a convenient place for storage, unused exercise equipment, old furniture or a place to send the kids when you need some peace and order upstairs. Out of sight, out of mind and commonly the last place you may think of remodeling.
But gone are the days of the dark and damp basement at the bottom of the stairs! We are excited to see a growing trend of basement "inclusion" among homeowners - the desire to use this abundant bonus space to extend their living environment by creating beautiful, high-end basement areas that are warm and inviting, yet practical and useful.
Recently, we were thrilled to work with a client who had the desire to transform their basement into a more personalized space for great entertaining and family enjoyment. The project included a complete redesign and encompassed many unique and special features that customized the space in the most meaningful way.
A wine room complete with a bar, seating area and fire element is both inviting and functional for wine tastings, sporting events, gatherings and more. Unlike a typical chilly, climate controlled wine room, Sub Zero refrigerators maintain the desired temperatures for the homeowners' collection allowing the room to remain warm and appealing for family and friends.
