Increasing visibility at new wind hot spots

GWEC's core mission is to open new markets for business. While markets are growing rapidly in Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, India and China, companies are starting to eye up new hot spots in Africa, Asia and Latin America. It seems that, historically, those companies who were the first to enter new markets - pioneers so to speak - set themselves up for strong growth further down the track.

While contracts and sales are being made, it's important to strengthen brand visibility. Being a global brand means that investors and key players across the supply chain will know who you are by the time you start discussing projects. So if you ask me 'how important is my company's visibility?' I would say 'it's everything, because getting your brand seen by peers on a global scale says that you mean business!'

At the Global Wind Energy Council we have created communication channels that get you noticed - international events in 4 continents, leading industry publications, 500,000 page views per year on our website and daily social media posts, bi-monthly newsletters and a database of over 23,000 global contacts.

And because we understand the wind business and what it takes to be visible, the GWEC team offers marketing know-how to members of our community to optimise marketing activities and resources, ensuring high yield and strong ROI. Some examples of our most powerful products include: Doing Business in... webcasts where you not only get to speak to a targeted audience, your company acquires a precious database of the right leads for your business; sponsorship of our Global Wind Market Update - THE industry reference in terms of market trends; Sponsorship of the Recharge Thought Leader's Session where the influential, high-level players meet; and many more.

Talk with us today to magnify your marketing activities and show the global wind industry that you mean business!

"Our GWEC membership has helped us to get access to many local players in Mexico."

CN_reformChina's electricity market reform

China's leadership has been seeking new measures to stimulate the country's economy since they took office three years ago. The task became even more pressing when economic growth slid to 7% in the first half of 2015. Electricity market reform has become one the top priorities:  to give the economy a boost through lowering electricity prices and increasing industrial productivity. Read more

SiemensLöwenstedt community wind farm banks on radio shielding wind turbines from Siemens

The receiving stations of Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS), the company in charge of air traffic control for Germany, are an important part of the wireless communication infrastructure of the aviation industry. One of these radio navigation stations, close to the village of Löwenstedt in Germany's northern state of Schleswig-Holstein, supports communications of pilots aloft. At first, it did not appear feasible for a publicly-owned wind project to be erected close to this receiving station: To gain approval the wind turbines need to comply with highly stringent radio shielding requirements. RESNordisk Vindkraft and Stadtwerke München inaugurate the Sidensjö Wind Farm

Swedish wind power company Nordisk Vindkraft and Stadtwerke München of Munich, Germany, inaugurate 48 wind turbines at the Sidensjö Wind Farm. Sidensjö Wind Farm is one of Sweden's largest wind farms with 48 turbines and a total installed effect of 144MW. Situated approximately 15 km west of Örnsköldsvik and 440 km north of Stockholm, this wind farm will produce renewable electricity and prevent emission of 380.000 tonnes of CO2 to the atmosphere annually. Hence, it will contribute considerably to the supply of environmentally friendly electricity and to Sweden's target for reduced climate impact. Read more

JWEAJapanese Kashima Corporation has developed new jack-up platform for offshore turbines

Lack of jack-up vessels is one of the most serious problems for offshore wind power development in Japan. Marubeni, the owner of Seajacks, has many jack-up vessels in Europe, but it needs USD10 million to transport carry them to Japan. Further to this, there are many regulations and laws regarding maritime issues in Japan which bring up cost. Kashima Co. has announced to develop a "K platform" for offshore wind turbine construction. This is a four-legged jack up construction platform where offshore wind turbines can be installed at nearshore. The "K platform" cannot float by itself but a specific floater is attached to it when the platform needs to move.
SAWEAWind energy has saved South Africa R1.8 billion more than it cost in first half of 2015 - and is actually making Eskom money

The South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) has welcomed and endorsed a new report by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) on the (ZAR 1.8 billion) less-than-zero costs of renewable energy to the country. The CSIR has just released its latest calculations on the increasing savings these technologies are achieving. Collectively wind energy and solar power (photovoltaic) saved ZAR 4 billion from January to June this year. Wind energy produced net savings of ZAR 1.8 billion and was also cash positive for Eskom by ZAR 300 million. Read more
