Teacher Training:
Leveraging Parent Health Advocates
Want to learn how to engage parents to promote healthy beverages at school (reduce access to sugary drinks and promote water consumption)?
Parent advocates can be a powerful voice for policy, systems and environmental change at schools.
The San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative (COI) will be holding a free "Train the Trainer" session to provide you with a 30-minute lesson plan that can be delivered to parents in a variety of settings. The train the trainer session will be two hours and will take place in early 2014. The session will be in English, however materials will be available to use with Spanish-speaking parents.
Anyone can attend this session and engage parents: community and public health educators and promotoras, health professionals, parent leaders, school/district staff, faith leaders, nutrition/public health/nursing students - anyone who wants to engage parents to promote healthy schools!
