BRIDGING: FAQ

Get ready for the next level!

Q: Where do I find the requirements for earning the bridging recognitions?

A: Bridging requirements can be found on the GSUSA website: Girl Scout Bridging Awards. You'll also find details in each level's Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting!

Q: When should I start bridging my troop to the next level?

A: Bridging activities are ideally completed by April or May.

Q: How do I get in touch with a leader of a Brownie, Junior, Cadette or Senior troop in my area to complete the required activities?

A: Check with your service unit team or your regional office!

Q: How long do I have to bridge my girls?

A: The new membership year begins on October 1!

Q: Do I have to bridge my girls?

A: No, it is not a requirement to bridge your girls; however, it is an important stepping stone for girls to understand what the next level of Girl Scouting means. Girls must complete all of the necessary requirements in order to earn the bridge.

Q: How do I hold a bridging ceremony?

A: Check out ideas from GSUSA  here, talk to other volunteers in your service unit, or ask your regional office for suggestions. Some service units have bridging ceremonies for their entire service units, and some troops have their own ceremonies to celebrate with girls and their families. Don't forget to include the girls in planning their ceremony!
