Autumn is apple season! As the orchard bears forth its fruit, the farmers hasten to pick, prep and process. Want to lend a hand? Come out for an apple afternoon. Explore the orchard, harvest an apple, help make applesauce and apple butter in the summer kitchen and use apple stamps to create custom craft projects.
 
Interested in taking home freshly picked apples? Depending on ripening schedules, u-pick opportunities may be available for an additional fee.

MOONLIGHT HAYRIDES at Primrose Farm

Enjoy an evening of old-fashioned farm fun by the light of the moon. Cruise around the fields of Primrose Farm at the height of the fall harvest on a 30 minute tractor-drawn wagon ride. Gather 'round a bonfire for a marshmallow roast, hot chocolate and hot cider. Ages 15 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Hands-on Milking

Spend your morning cozying up with the Primrose cows! Meet these lovely ladies and discover what goes into dairying - the breeding, raising and milking of dairy animals. Then get up close and personal with one of the 'fresh' cows and try your hand at milking.

See, hear and touch the Columbian Wyandotte chickens that call Primrose home and help gather farm fresh eggs straight from the nest. All pickers take home a share of the eggs collected!

Crazy about horses? Here's your chance to mingle with some gentle giants - the Primrose Farm Belgian draft horses. Explore basic grooming techniques and learn about equine care practices of today and yesterday.
 
Feed the Animals
Second & Fourth Saturdays / 2pm
RES $5/NR $7.50 per person
 
Please feed the animals! It's not often that you'll hear this being said on a farm. Get a unique - behind the scenes - opportunity to help feed the farm's animal residents. Learn about the care and feeding of livestock and how their specialized diets vary throughout the year.

Need an excuse to get out of the house? Come sip coffee and socialize with other parents while your little farmer plays with kids their age! Each playgroup will be hosted by a Primrose Farmer and will feature a barnyard tour and either a story, craft or activity in the Summer Kitchen. Snacks and beverages will be available for both little farmers and their parents. After the playgroup, stick around to walk a nature trail, take pictures on a vintage tractor or help in the vegetable garden.
 

The Cow Goes Moo and Scarecrows Too

Searching for a unique no school day activity? Come experience winter on the farm! Learn about how animal care and farm chores change during the cold and dark of December. Snowshoe on the farm trails, play old fashioned games and make biscuits on the woodstove. Help with important winter activities - sewing, gathering firewood and maintaining farm equipment.

Let the Primrose Farm staff tailor a scouting program to meet your specific badge needs! From dairy products and food animals to hiking and gardening, Primrose offers many unique learning experiences.

Pick one of the courses below or contact staff about a custom class. Complete program descriptions with information on badge/activity fulfillment can be found online at primrosefarmpark.com.

These 1-hr. programs are offered weekdays and Saturdays at your troops' convenience. Fee is $5 per scout. A tractor-drawn hayride can be added for an additional $2 per person.

picnic table in the farmyard.
