Scheduled Upcoming Civic Meetings - Residents are invited to attend the upcoming City meetings.  Below is a list of the meetings with their date, time and location.

-The Rehabilitation Board will meet on Tuesday, November 26 at 4:30 p.m. at the Dorsey Center located at 32715 Dorsey.

Small Business Saturday -  Residents are encouraged to do their holiday shopping at local small businesses on Saturday, November 30.  Shop local and keep your dollars in your community.  This year, Mayor Wild will visit various businesses and raffle off a variety of gift cards from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon.  He will begin at Bigby Coffee at 8:00 a.m. and stop by Leo's Coney Island at 8:45 a.m.  From there, he will visit Westland Mall's Salon 210 at 9:30 a.m. and continue to Brilliant Diamonds at 10:00 a.m.  At 10:45 a.m. he will be at Bargain Club and he will finish the day at MJR Theaters at 11:30 a.m.  This shopping extravaganza follows his annual State of the City Address where he highlighted several business investments in Westland.

2013 Holiday Taste Fest - The Westland Chamber of Commerce & Westland Rotary Club presents the 2013 Holiday Taste Fest.  Tickets are on sale now for the event which will be Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from 6 pm - 9 pm at the Hellenic Cultural Center located at 36375 Joy Rd.  Admission is $25 and  includes food and entertainment. Join us for this gourmet adventure with the area's finest restaurants and culinary artist featuring their tasty treats and festive holiday displays.  Entertainment will be provided by Bart Ventura as Frank Sinatra as well as Emcees RC DJ and Video, Ralph & Kim Cabildo.  There will also be an Ugly Sweater Contest with a grand prize of  a $100 Visa gift card, courtesy of Co-op Services Credit Union.  The fun continues with an amazing auction where you will get a chance to bid on fabulous baskets, trips, services, golf, and more.  For information, call the Westland Chamber of Commerce at 734-326-7222 or westlandchamber.com or westlandrotary.com.

Tree Lighting Ceremony - Santa will make a special trip to Westland to help Mayor William R. Wild and the Westland City Council members as they light the City of Westland Christmas Trees on Wednesday, December 4 at 5:30 pm in front of City Hall. The excitement continues at the William P. Faust Public Library located at 6123 Central City Parkway at 6:00 pm for Cookies and Cocoa with Santa and holiday stories read by local dignitaries.  Kids can bring their letters to Santa to put in Santa's Mailbox at the library so he can take them home with him to The North Pole.

Wayne County's Lightfest  - This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Wayne County Lightfest.  Visit the Midwest's longest drive-through holiday light display for four miles of colorful lights with a fee of $5/car. Enter off Merriman Road, between Ann Arbor Trail and Warren Avenue in Westland. For more information on this holiday spectacular, call the Parks office.
